Another week and another contestant will be eliminated. Last week, it was Declan Sykes turn, who found himslef in the B2 with 3W, a result that sealed his fate. Tonight the remaining 4 contestants will sing two songs each, one uplifitng and one emotional, pluse the great Stevie Nicks drops by for a little mentoring. Which 3 lucky contestants will make it to the final? ... It's time to face the music!
Recap and videos after the JUMP ...
Round 1
Andrew Wishart
"Animal" - 5,5/10 - Andrew is doing an upbeat fun track? I don't believe this. This is definitely much more entertaining than his previous performances and I give him props for trying something different. That said, and I agree with Ronan, he didn't nail the vocals, it was shaky and out of tune, which is surprising coming from him. "Your vocals were flawless ... I don't know if it's the right song for you, it doesn't seem you would connect with it" (Guy) "It wasn't your best vocal performance" (Mel) "You didn't nail the vocal this week" (Ronan)
Johnny Ruffo
"So Sick" - 3/10 - He had a good performance last week but a single good interpretation doesn't prove he can sing, and this totally supports that point. Johnny's vocals are so soft and weak it makes you wonder how he got past through his first audition. I'm "So Sick" of him by now ... "It wasn't absolutely perfect but what you are giving me is Johnny ... That was an overall nice performance" (Mel) "You are a dark horse, you could win this" (Ronan) "I'd loved watching you grow and your singing's gotten so much better" (Nat) WTF people? Really? Ugh, that's why you four are so useless....
"Tonight Tonight" - 6/10 - And just like that, Andrew is back to being the most boring performer ever. Yes, there's no doubt that he's got a fantastic voice, probably the best in the competition, so that's not even a part of my score anymore, with him is the performance as a whole, and he's always sleepy for me. There was a lot of conncetion and feeling there but I doubt anybody else but his wife felt that. "Man you had to nail that, cause if I had to link your voice to anyone it'd be Farnham" (Guy) "You have to feel so proud of yourself cause when you deliver a performance like that it just sends chills down my spine" (Mel) "You absolutely nailed that, it was beautiful, it was over too soon" (Ronan)
Reece Mastin
"Breakeven" - 8/10 - He's been a major trainwreck for the past few weeks and thankfully, this is leaps away from those messes. This is probably one of my favourite from him, just cause I love the song, but apart from that, Reece did a fantastic job with it. Some notes did sound weird and he moved his hands way too much, but this could be his comeback performance! "You are back brother!" (Mel) "Great song choice, exactly what you should be doing, welcome back to the contest!" (Ronan) "There's nothing better than being part of this show and watching people like you go up on stage and shine" (Nat)
Three Wishez
"The Time (Dirty Bit)" - 6/10 - Ugh, I hate this song. Despite 3W is probably one of the best groups Australia's ever had, this performance fell totally short for me. They sounded surprisingly off the entire song and even if they were fun and Fred-Day is an amazing rapper, I didn't like it much. "You guys made that your own ... I absolutely love that" (Nat) "What an incredible performance!" (Guy) "That's exactly what you should've been doing since the beginning" (Mel)
Round 2
Johnny Ruffo
"Burn for You" - 4/10 - Johnny's got an obssesion with singing and dancing on stage. Are you seriously gonna ask the same question to every artist you meet? Oh, look! Johnny can be a popstar after all, he's a mediocre singer who hides the fact he can't sing behind lots of staging and his abs. Seriously Australia, if he makes the final, I'm done with you. "Is the towel necessary? .. I wouldn't be surprised if you win this thing" (Mel) "I hope you go all the way, you deserve it" (Ronan) "All I can say that was so much fun ... and if this doesn't work for you, Home and Away, you are on it" (Nat)
Andrew Wishart
"Paradise City" - 7/10 - Just like Andrew went back to being his boring self, Reece is back to his screechy one. I just wish that his performances were the other way cause "Breakeven" was so much better than this. The song sounds so dated, I just wish Guy could actually pick songs. Stil, I'm hoping he makes the final. "That was actually, your best performance of the whole contest" (Mel) "You deserve to go all the way" (Ronan) "Every part of your performance was so exciting" (Nat) "He's got his chest out too!!!" (Mel) "He's 16 Mel, sorry, we don't want you to get your chest out!" (Nat)
Three Wishez
"Turning Tables" - 9/10 - Well, this is probably my fave performance from them and the fact that I love this song is totally a factor here. They finally gave us a slow emotional performance where their voices shone. Even though Fred-Day was a little absent here, Sophia's voice was the stand out of this interpretation so what the others did, didn't really matter. I'm so rooting for them to win this, they'd be a fantastic winner for this show. "You really connected to each other and that was in another level from what we've seen" (Nat) "I felt such emotion ... I loved every minute of it" (Guy) "You've done an amazing progress up to this point ... Fred-Day, I want you to go home and study Eminem, Jay-Z, Drake, your rap seems very A-B-C, 1-2-3 to me, it's kinda been a bit of the same" (Mel)
Ranking:
- Three Wishez
- Reece Mastin
- Andrew Wishart
- Johnny Ruffo
Resluts
The show started with great promise this year and a great level of talent but just like last season, it all dissapeared while the liveshows advanced. The first major fail was the elimination of great contestants like Pamela, Paige, Sophie and Mali to name a few in the Judges Houses stage. Those 4 people would have been much better finalists than some of the contestants who actually made it. The second mistake was sending Cleo Howman home, and then proceeding to eliminate Tyla and Jacqui, who could have gave some cool performances. Now we are down to the final 3 and the result is incrediblly dissapointing, all due to the horrible judging this season has gave, specially from Mel and Ronan. Not only Johnny did make it to the grand final but he also eliminated fan favourite Three Wishez. So we now have our top 3 and it's a guy who can barley sing a note in tune, a screechy faux-rocker and a boring old dude. Hope you are happy Australia, you just topped last year's final with the worst top 3 ever! I guess this is more a Pain than a Pleasure ...

Agree totally! Embarrassing .... I don't know how the judges can live with themselves. They have less talent than the top 3.

AWFUL Top 3, Johnny would make Frankie Cococozza blush, Andrew is as exciting as a ham sandwich and Reece wouldn't win a school talent show.
