Interview: Imogen Brough

Singer- songwriter Imogen Brough has an insane amount of talent (the kind the makes even Beyoncé jealous) with her soaring vocals being perfectly suited for the Celtic inspired pop anthems she has released. She'll always be remembered as that phenomenal singer who shockingly missed the final on the sixth season of the Danish XF. Amanda was the front runner from the very beginning yet she only placed 4th in the competition. It's hard to say what went wrong, since the girl didn't miss a beat in the entire competition. This is my chat with her, in which she answered some burning questions for us. Like, who was the master mind behind those amazing songs, why we saw her cry during the JH and what's next for her. If you ask me, brilliance.

Both songs have received a majorly positive response, and it is clear that Brian is well on his way to major success with his music. Last week we saw the lovely Vendulka leaving the show, when Nat decided to keep Shiane Hawke over her. Despite I'm still pissed I won't be seeing my fave contestant again this season, I remain positive we'll get to see her again in the future, after all, she's only 14. Interview: Phuong (From Phuong & Rasums)

The XF Denmark liveshows strated last week and unfortunately, that left us with the first eliminated act of the season, Phuong & Rasmus. The duo was one of the most interesting groups ever on the show but unfortunately, the public didn't click with them. Their voices blended perfectly and the result was a strange but extremely interesting combination. I'd have loved to keep seeing what they had but that isn't happening now. Phuong answered some of my questions regarding the show and her future. Will she keep singing with Rasmus? Does she think it was Blachman's fault they were cut?

One of the most beautiful voices on the latest season of Idol Norge, Maria Mohn was initally positioned as one of the frontrunners but somehow, she starting fading away and was ultimately eliminated in the 6th place. Known for her unique arrengments of popular tunes, Maria was one of my favourites of the season and she left a lasting impression on me with her hearfelt performances. There's no doubt the girl has a lot of talent and with the right songs, she can be a hit in Norway. Both the audience and the judges were really critical of Marlen during her Idol Norge run, the truth is that she was pure raw talent and with a little development, the girl could be a fantastic singer. Maybe the judges were scared of her potential? She's got lots of soul and her style was really distinct. Interview: Jenny Marlene Nettum

Jenny wowed everyone with her unique folky sound when we first saw her when she showed up to audition for the latest Idol Norge series and she immediately became one of the frontrunners, ultimately making it to the Top 40. Unfortunately, a combination of early spot and dark song choice ended her run on the show, sending her prematurely home. Jenny recently took some times to answer some questions for us, in which she hinted the possibility to return to the show and what's next for her. Well, I'd say go for it!

Interview: The Moniker

Daniel Karlsson was the 4th placer in the Swedish Idol 4th Season, but it wasn't until he entered the Melodifestivalen 2011 competition as The Moniker that he started earning some fame. He basically came out of nowhere and achived a solid 3rd place with his single "Oh My God!", which charted at #4. Being signed by Warner Music, The Moniker released his debut album, "Maktub" on May 23, 2011, and back then, soon after his Melodifestivalen run, he was nice enough to answer some questions for me. And since this is a Swedish Week, there wasn't a more appropiate time than now.

With an addictive lo-fi folkish sound, I Am Oak, Thijs Kuijken solo project, is probably one of the most engaging new acts from the Netherlands. His lyrics are great and often admit several interpretations, as he admits. Mixing acoustic guitars, soothing vocals and distorted sounds is what make his music really interesting. He answered some questions for me and I can tell you this is one of the best interviews I've done! Some really interesting answers, such as his name and song's meanings and Tyra Banks?

One of the most interesting mixes in the bunch, this dutch group impressed me with their jazzy folkish sound and cool intrumentation. The latest album, "When The Whales Sing", was released this past October. They've got a really throwback sound, one that is really unusual nowadays, thus making it really refreshing. The frontrunner, Amarins Romkema, was kind enough to answer some questions for me. And some really interesting answers came out from that!

Highly influenced by Motown artists like Etta James and Aretha Franklin, it appears that June Noa also has their vocal chords cause this girl's voice is insane. She's got a certain Joss Stone vibe but much more soulish and with a certain raspiness. Her voice is so good it gets additctive, I've heard her songs like 20 times while writing this, seriously. While working on her debut EP, June answered some questions for this interview and yes, the result is really interesting and a bit leghty, but the longer the better! So keep reading!

Probably the girl with the most distinctive voice in this list, quirky Stafany June, whose debut single "Summer" became a hit, recently answered some of my question, cause, what a better way of knowing someone than by asking them? She's currently the opening act for The Asteroids Galaxy Tour, a band which has definitely influenced her music and style, and is working on her debut album, which I would expect for late 2011/early 2012. With her upbeat fun sound and her high voice, she creates a really engaging electro sound, really similar to the Ellie Goulidng's sound that got me hooked to her. I'm hooked to Stefany too ...

Interview: Eefje de Visser

Eefje rose to fame after winning the 2009 GPVN, which didn't only made her an act to watch but also a really popular one. The folk acoustic singer, mainly known for her soft and sweet vocals, often accompanied with a slow guitar melody, then went to release her debut album, "De Koek" on January 7, 2011, which charted #35 and lasted 12 weeks on the charts. With great catchy sounds and a cool lyrical style, Eefje stands out from your typical singer/songwriters and that's why I like her! She's not about making a deep confusing song, she's all catchy fun and well written tunes. And I can't help loving such a feel good artist! Eefje recently answered some questions for me and you know the result is amazing.

Raising artist, Krystl is one of the biggest dutch promises of this year. Signed with Universal and winner of several awards, such as the 3FM Award for Best Newcomer, the jazzy singer has just released her debut album, "Rolling", this past May and has already recived a lot of praise for it, charting at #8. The album is definitely one of the highlights of the year, with it's soul pop sound, very similar to Anouk's but with a much softer vibe. The "Bottles" singer recently answered some questions for me and the result is super interesting, so be sure to read the interview!

Interview: Yori Swart

Yori Swart is one of the most promising dutch acts of this past years. Winning several awards and compiting in major ones such as the GPVN, this folk soul singer is set to take the world by storm with her upcoming debut album, which is set for release on October. With a similar sound to Annie De Franco meets Brandi Carlile, Yori is already showing a lot of promise with her raspy voice and her cool guitar skills. With only a few songs out, such as "Secretly Sleeping", which she wrote in an hour, this raising star, if not a breakthrough act, answered some questions for me some weeks ago in which we discussed her style, her past and her album. So be sure to read about such an interesting artist!

Interview: Lucky Fonz III

Otto Wichers, known as Lucky Fonz III, has been gaining a lot of hype in the Netherlands recently. Winner of prestigious awards such as the Grote Prijs van Nederland, one of the biggest actually, his music combines folk music with classical elements, plus a really unique mix of instruments. He recently answered some questions for me and the results were really interesting, such as it's name meaning, Dolly Parton and Afrikaans?
