Catching Up With: Scott Newnham: First Single, First Music Video
10 September, 2010 6:19 PM
Our favourite brickee, Australian Idol S7 eight placer, Scotty Newnham, is just starting his music carrer. Some time ago, Scott was signed by Razor Records and released his first single on September 3. The music video for the song, titled "Really Me" debuted on September 2 on YouTube. Considering Scott is a newcomer, and has never performed before Idol, this song is really ok. Pretty RnB meets Hip Hop. The video is really excellent, Scott looks terrific and the video is actually pretty enjoyable. However, the song doesn't have any powerful moments, it's a bit plain. But it's his first, so, let's see what's next ...

Music Video: Hayley Warner: Hands Off
30 July, 2010 11:41 PM
The sophomore music video of Australian Idol's biggest performer has been officialy released now! "Hands Off", was released today, July 30 on the iTunes store, though I couldn't find the link. This song is breathtaking, all I can say is WOW. Yes, it's a bit clichéd, all that rocker vibe, but her voice and performance skills are so terrific! Those shouts in between verses are unbelievable, is that Hayley or an amazing rock godess? She could be the biggest revelation of Australian Idol, and maybe the last, as the show is not coming back this year and I don't see very good sings it will on 2011. But wait!! Australia's talented still have a chance on the australian version of the X Factor which is returning this year!!

As I'm getting anxious and many of you may too, I decided to post the behind the scenes of Hayley's upcoming single, "Hands Off", to be released July 30! The song looks really great, from the bit I can hear in this video, and I like her intensity, keep pulling that killing faces, girl!

Catching Up With: Tenielle: Better Than Leaving Music Video + Telestra Road to Tamworth
16 July, 2010 4:32 PM
Tenielle may have not won the 7th season of Australian Idol, nor even get into the Top 12, twice, but she has released a single!! Yes, the wildcard finalist has released an EP some time ago, on June 18, titled "Better Than Leaving", after being signed with Big Pond. The first single of it is the song of the same name and a music video debuted on YouTube on May 16, 2010. In addition to all this great news, Tenielle has won the "Telstra Road To Tamworth", which prize is an all payed trip to Nashville to record with some great producers. Thinks couldn't be better for her. The song is a soft and peaceful country tune, which combined with this beautiful video makes a tablespoon full of sugar, or something like that at least.

Catching Up With: James Johnston: First Single, Rollercoaster
06 July, 2010 9:30 PM
James Johnston was the Australian Idol Season 7 third placer. I really didn't liked him on Idol, he wasn't ready for it, but I think he may have evolved enough to be considered as a singer. He has just released his new single, "Rollercoaster" on March 22, 2010 and a music video for it debuted on YouTube on April 15. The song deals with a couple in which the woman is a "rollercoaster" (crazy bitch). I actually like it, it's a modern rock song with country influences, after all, James is a country boy. I love the echoed singing at 2:07 and then the acoustic transition is just brilliant. I also liked the video a lot, it was really well filmed and edited, very enjoyable.

Catching Up With: Kate Cook: First Single, Make You Stay, Music Video
05 July, 2010 4:16 PM
Country chick, Kate Cook, who was the 6th placer on the 7th season of Australian Idol, has recently released her first single and respectively music video for her original song, with which she auditioned for the show, "Make You Stay". The song was released to radios on February 1, 2010 and the music video premiered on March 28 on YouTube. I really didn't like her while she was on Idol, I think she was a country stereotype, you know, with the hat and the cowboy boots. But this song is incredible. She is so deep and it's such a sentimental song! I almost cried, almost. The ode to her mother, who commited suicide when she was 16, is a beautiful rendition and an exceptional performance by Kate. Really beautiful and true to her country persona.

Catching Up With: Stan Walker: New Singles + Second Album
2:12 AM
Australian Idol S7 champ is now about to release his second album, "From the Inside Out", which is expected for August 20, 2010. Teaming with Israel, Audius Mtawarira, Stuart Crichton and Ryan Tedder, the album will be no other thing than an absoulte hit.
Stan has released one single from the album, "Unbroken", and will release "Choose You" as the second on July 23. "Unbroken" was released on April 12 and serves as the lead single. It was written by Ryan Tedder and deals obviously about being unbroken.
I really liked this song. It's a very soulish and powerful Rn'B song, in the unique way only Stan can do it. I can also hear some Hip Hop tunes but in a small proportion. Talking about the music video now, I'm not so sure about it. Overall, it's awesome, but Stan's hair ... WTF? Fire the hairdresser now! Apart from that, perfect!
