I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

The Voice US: Season 4: The Live Finals: Top 8 Perform

Photobucket

Acoustic pop model Josiah Hawley and RnB singer Kris Thomas left the competition last week, with only one male act remaining. That also leaves both Usher and Shakira with one member on their teams while Adam and Blake still have their three acts. Could one of them lose all their acts tonight? Or is it time to say goodbye to someone on Team Blake? Maybe on Team Adam?

Last week the live shows began with the Top 16 finalists giving their all to make it into S4's Top 12. Unfortunately, Latino singers Cáthia and Karina Iglesias, country crooner Justin Rivers and indie darling Caroline Glaser, were all sent packing after failing to make the Top 3 among their team. This week, the two lowest voted contestants will be going home, regardless of their team. Who'll lose the first acts?

X Factor New Zealand: Season 1: Top 12 Perform: NZ Music

 photo Banner_zps5a83ddce.png

The live shows began last week when the Top 13 took the stage to tackle #1 hits. Unfortunately, one of them was a flop, as indie darling Eden Roberts was sent packing when facing hip hop duo L.O.V.E. With only a few stand outs, the first night was a big disappointment. This week we are celebrating NZ music month, which was first celebrated on May 2002. Will the remaining acts overcome their jitters tonight?

Photobucket

Welcome back guys! I've not been following The Voice up to this point, honestly, because I couldn't take more auditions, but since the liveshows are already here, I guess it's about time to start covering the show again. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton returned as coaches, being joined by Colombian star Shakira and RnB singer Usher. We are down to 16 acts and tonight, Team Shakira and Team Blake take the stage. By the end of the week, only 12 will remain. Two will be saved by the audience and one by the coaches. Will your fave make it?

New Zealand is finally getting their own edition of the XF. The show was originally announced on 2010 but it wasn't until early 2013 that it went into production. Hosted by Dominic Bowden, who was previously seen on  New Zealand Idol, the show premiered on April 21, 2013. Australia's talented has always been impressive, so we've got to wonder, are the Kiwis equally as good?

The Voice of Ukraine: Season 3: The Battles

They say life is a battlefield. Well, I don't know about life, but The Voice certainly is. Imagine how does it feel to be a contestant - one day the judges battle each other over you and then you battle with another contestant over them. Tough! The good news are, you don't have to battle anyone, so just relax and enjoy the show!

KZ Tandingan: Debut Album Out Now!

 photo KZTandingan_zpsc63a4f4a.png
Wondering where she's been hiding all this time? KZ was crowned the inaugural winner of the X Factor Philippines back in October. We've gotten nothing from her since, besides the occasional TV appearance. 5 months later, here she is, with a brand new album and single. Released on May 3, the self titled debut showcases her gorgeous tone to perfection, "Umiibig" is one of the songs that comes to mind. It's a relief to see that she's stayed truth to herself, with her jazz roots staying intact. Her original cover of "Killing Me Softly" is also a stand out, with her emotional first single "Scared to Death" also worth a listen and the slow "Bakit Lumuluha" the stunner of the album. All in all, a wonderful first effort from an insanely talented singer. She has a bright future ahead and I intend following it.

Interview: Amanda

 photo Amanda3_zpsd86bacd5.png
She'll always be remembered as that phenomenal singer who shockingly missed the final on the sixth season of the Danish XF. Amanda was the front runner from the very beginning yet she only placed 4th in the competition. It's hard to say what went wrong, since the girl didn't miss a beat in the entire competition. This is my chat with her, in which she answered some burning questions for us. Like, who was the master mind behind those amazing songs, why we saw her cry during the JH and what's next for her. If you ask me, brilliance.

Poll: X Factor New Zealand Is a Go!

 photo Banner_zps5a83ddce.png

UPDATE: I've decided to start covering the show! Since this is it's first season, I won't be recapping either the auditions, bootcamp or Judges Houses, just the liveshows. Let's just treat it as an experiment! The first performance show airs May 19!

Almost 3 years since first announced, the X Factor NZ is finally seeing the light of day. Judged by Daniel Bedingfield, Melanie Blatt, Ruby Frost and Australian Idol S7 winner Stan Walker, the show, which premiered today, is NZ's first attempt at the franchise. XF Australia has been quite great the last couple of years and The Voice Australia is a monumental success. Could NZ achieve the same amount of talent? Can the production values be as high as their Aussie counterpart? Most importantly, can it produce a star? As you can see, I'm in a dilemma and I need your help to solve it. You'll find a poll after the jump and hopefully, it'll make me decide if it'll be worth recapping!

The Voice UK: Season 2: The Battle Rounds!

 photo TheVoiceUKlogo.png
So after several weeks of blind auditions, we're at the Battle Rounds when each coach will slice their teams in half by pitting them against each other in pairs. However, this year there is a twist as each coach has one 'steal' which allows them to steal an act that one of their fellow coaches has decided to send home. So as twelve acts are cut down to six then rounded up to seven, who will deliver a knockout blow and who will be KO'd by their opponent?
