I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

X Factor UK 2014: Top 3 Perform: The Final

Photobucket

The last of Cheryl's girls, Lauren Platt left the competition last week in a tense sing-off with Andrea Faustini leaving us with three acts in the grand final, Fleur East and Ben Haenow for the Overs and Andrea for the Boys. Mel B is apparently ill so has been (oddly) replaced with former judge Tulisa but Simon, Louis and Cheryl are here. By the end of the weekend, Sam Bailey will have a successor.

X Factor UK 2014: Top 4 Perform: The Semi Final

Photobucket
Would you believe we're nearly there? It's the ninth live show and there are just four acts remaining. Only one more act is going to miss out on the final next week. Tonight they'll all be singing Christmas songs (why could they not have saved that for the final?) and a song to get them to the final? Who will miss out, Cheryl's girl Lauren, Mel's boy Andrea or one of Simon's overs, Ben and Fleur?

X Factor UK 2014: Top 5 Perform: Jukebox Week

Photobucket
Last week saw the final double elimination of the series as Only The Young and Stevi Ritchie said goodbye. With just two weeks until the final, it's jukebox week where the acts are singing one song as chosen by the public and one song as chosen by a celebrity special guest. So who will be singing their swan song tonight?

X Factor UK 2014: Top 7 Perform: Whitney Houston vs Elton John

Photobucket

Last week saw big band bring down Jay James, to the shock of about five people after he was eliminated via deadlock against novelty act Stevi Ritchie. As it was Jay's second bottom two appearance in a row, and as he was saved against the relatively popular Paul Akister the previous week, it's no surprise that he failed to get a bounce back. This week, the remaining seven acts are singing songs by Whitney Houston and Elton John but with the final double elimination looming, who will be still standing (ba dum tish) come the quarter-final next week?

X Factor UK 2014: Top 8 Perform: Big Band Week

Photobucket

Last week saw another 'shock exit' after Paul Akister was eliminated via deadlock having found himself in the sing-off against Jay James. With the public still reeling from his departure, who will be able to lead the pack as they take on big band songs?

X Factor UK 2014: Top 9 Perform: Michael Jackson vs Queen

Photobucket

Last week saw Jack Walton and Lola Saunders leave us after an automatic elimination on Saturday night and a tense deadlock situation against Stereo Kicks respectively. This leaves Cheryl with just one act and means that almost half of the remaining acts are from Simon's category. Tonight the acts are singing songs by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson and one of the biggest bands of all time, Queen. They won't want to be 'bad' as they all know that 'another one bites the dust' on Sunday night. (Disclaimer: No puns were hurt in the making of this recap, just severely overused).

X Factor UK 2014: Top 11 Perform: Halloween Week

Photobucket

Last week we finally saw Jake Quickenden leave after a few ropey performances, making him the first of Mel's acts to leave. This week is Halloween week so the acts are all ready to spook the judges with what they hope will be scarily good performances. But the biggest trick of all is courtesy of Simon...not only will there be a double elimination this week, one act will be leaving automatically at the end of Saturday's show! Who will leave the judges howling and who will be screaming by the end of Sunday night?

X Factor UK 2014: Top 12 Perform: Movies Night

Photobucket

Cheryl lost two of her acts after 80's week last Sunday when Stephanie Nala and Chloe Jasmine were sent packing after Stereo Kicks were saved in favour of the latter in the sing-off with Steph receiving the fewest votes and being sent home automatically. Tonight, the remaining twelve acts are singing songs from movies, who will deliver a blockbuster performance and who will be a box office flop?

X Factor UK 2014: Top 14 Perform: 80's Week

Photobucket

We said goodbye to Blonde Electra and Overload Generation last week after a double elimination whilst former Luminites singer Stephanie Nala was spared. This week, the remaining fourteen acts are performing songs from the 80's with Irene Cara, Whitney Houston and Simply Red amongst the artists being covered. The songs were acceptable in the 80's but will the acts' covers of them cut the mustard?

X Factor UK 2014: Top 16 Perform: Number Ones

Photobucket

Last week, the final 12 were revealed as each judge picked their final 3 and tonight all twelve will perform for your votes for the first time. However, as well as the twelve already chosen, there are four more acts competing as each judge has been asked to choose a wildcard. More on that later. With sixteen acts competing and two leaving by the end of the first weekend, who will fall foul of number ones?

X Factor UK 2014: Judges' Houses

Photobucket
We're getting ever closer to the live shows now. It's over to Judges' Houses as the top 24 jet off across the globe to fight it out for a place in the live shows. Louis and the Groups are jetting off to Bermuda where they will be joined by former judge Tulisa, Mel B and the Boys are being joined by Emma Bunton in Mexico, Simon and the Groups are heading to Los Angeles where he will be joined by Sinitta (well there's no show without Punch) whilst Cheryl is taking the Girls to Nice where her and Tinie Tempah will decide who to take through.

X Factor UK 2014: The Arena Auditions - Episode 4

Photobucket
Last night's auditions were fantastic, tonight we see the remainder of the auditionees vying out for a place in bootcamp and as we have seen, not everyone is able to impress in front of a full audience. Will anyone crack tonight and more importantly, who will set the place alight?

X Factor UK 2014: The Arena Auditions - Episode 3

After one weekend of arena auditions, we're onto the final two arena auditions. There's still loads of talent that we haven't seen so maybe tonight will unveil lots of new faces set to go far in the competition.

X Factor UK 2014: The Arena Auditions - Episode 2

Tonight is the second of the arena auditions. Last night saw some strong talent but also the uncomfortable dismissal of Amy Connolly after she failed to impress Louis, Simon and Mel B. Will we have any big shocks tonight?

X Factor UK 2014: The Arena Auditions - Episode 1

Photobucket
After just two week of room auditions, we're moving onto the arenas. It was a bit underwhelming seeing just four episodes of room auditions but hopefully the arena auditions will deliver lots more talent as we see how those who made it through the rooms cope in front of a live Wembley audience.

X Factor UK 2014: The Room Auditions - Episode 4

Photobucket

We're down to what is apparently the last episode of room auditions already, yes, allegedly it's straight on to arena auditions next week after just four episodes of rooms. Not sure what the idea is with that but anyway, as we reach the final episode of room auditions, who will shine?

X Factor UK 2014: The Room Auditions - Episode 3

X Factor UK 2014: The Room Auditions - Episode 2

Photobucket
After a solid start with some decent talent, we're onto audition show two. Unlike last year's auditions, they're not airing the room auditions and arena auditions back to back, instead getting through all room auditions before they start showing arenas. So who will impress the judges tonight as they scour the country for talent?

X Factor UK 2014: The Room Auditions - Episode 1

Photobucket
It may not seem like a year since Sam Bailey was crowned winner of The X Factor, in fact technically speaking it isn't but let's not dwell on technicalities, indeed it's X Factor time again. And as if to say that 2011-2013 didn't really happen, head honcho Simon Cowell and his right hand woman Cheryl Cole are back. As is Louis Walsh, let's face it, there's no show without Punch. The fourth seat has been filled by Spice Girl and former X Factor Australia judge Mel B whose straight talking manner during a guest stint in 2012 obviously impressed Simon enough to offer her
a full time role. So who will be this year's stand-outs as the room auditions begin?
