Rochelle: "You vs Me" Out Now
30 March, 2012 2:29 PM
XF Netherlands 2011 winner, and very possible the final one (that is if XF doesn't come back in spring 2013 as it's stated to), is finally unveiling her debut album, out today, March 30. I've always said that Rochelle sounded like Jessie J during her XF run but in her debut record, "You vs Me", the girl totally unleashes the innner Jessie she always had, specially on first album single, "What a Life", which sounds like something the own "Price Tag" hitmaker would perform. The album's title track isn't exactly showing all the swagger Rochelle has, instead, it shows the Jordin Sparks wannabe she first showed in her debut single, "No Air", an ok effort, just not good enough. Thankfully, the album tracks are more Jessie than Jordin, a relief if you ask me, cause honestly, the whole album sounds quite fantastic, so go get your copy now!

With one of the most memorable auditions of this years dutch XF, Hanneke Willems was seen cut just before making it to the liveshows. Still, that initial audition was enough to impress me and many viewers and now that some months have passed, I interviewed Hanneke to see what was going on in her life now. A new band, an EP and getting married is what's next for her! Want to know more?

Last week, Ed Ruyer was cut in one of the most surprising boots of the season, given that he was a clear frontrunner and one of the favourites since his audition. The problem is that he wasn't delievering, while the other acts kept improving. Tonight, the top 5 will sing once more two songs each, on the Summer Jam theme. Who will be cut tonight? Will be the last girl, over or boy? Or will it be the second group leaving? ... It's time to face the music!

X Factor Netherlands 2011: Top 9 Perform: Dancing Queen
29 April, 2011 8:30 PM
UPDATE: Jessica Mougin was cut! Sway was on the B2 with her.
Two of the girls found themeselves on the B2 last week. Tania Christopher and Jessica Mougin were announced to had recived the least amounts of votes. Following a judges votation, where Ed refused to vote for any of his acts ala Cheryl Cole, the three remaining judges decided to eliminate diva belter Tania. Tonight, the final night perform songs with a dance twist, well, that's what I understand from the theme "Dancing Queen". Gosh, I hoped they do it easier! Who will be the next dance godess? ... X Factor Netherlands 2011: Top 11 Perform: Remember The Time
15 April, 2011 5:12 PM
Last week we saw the first performance show and the first act to be cut from the competition. The victim was Jesse Swaan, who failed to impress with a shaky performance that ultimately eliminated him when the judges went to deadlock and Jesse was announced to have recived less votes than Sway, leaving the Boys category with 2 contestants. Now, the 11 remaining acts battle again to survive. This week's theme is Remember the Time, which I assume is, old songs? Plus, Simon Cowell is in the house! He'll give advice to the kids. Marcel is back again and will be for the rest of the season! Who will fail to impress? Who will shine? ... It's time to face the music!

The 12 finalists hit the stage for the first time in the firt liveshow of the season! The theme is "Born This Way", a strange theme if you ask me. What the hell is that theme supposed to be? Anyway, on a side note, I've found a collaborator! His name is Marcel (clicking his name will take you to a site he likes) and will be providing us translation of the judges comments throughout the season! I've identified his extra comments in blue. Catching Up With: Maaike Vos: "Stop" Music Video featuring T.I.M.
26 November, 2010 10:40 PM
Maaike Vos was the runner-up of the latest season of the Dutch X Factor, which Jaap won. The girl, however, was also signed by Sony Music and is now working on her debut! This song is a collaboration between Maaike and dutch band T.I.M. which was released on November 8, while the music video premiered on November 15. I'm not a fan of the music video, although Maaike looks amazing. It's a bit boring and monotonous, and very predictable. I don't know, it looks really low quality and cheesy to me. The song, however, is incredible! Maaike's voice is sounding terrfic and she's pulling some really difficult notes! And the other singer has a really pleasant raspy tone! I'm more than anxious for her album!

Music Video: Lisa Lois: Little By Little + New Single: Love Me Tender
24 November, 2010 3:50 PM
Lisa Lois was the winner of the second season of the dutch X Factor. Since then, she has released her debut album, "Smoke" and has released 5 singles, two of which are the subject of this post. "Little By Little" is Lisa's fourth single released May 29, 2010. It's music video premiered on July 13. The song charted #7 on the Dutch charts, and there's no reason it wouldn't, it actually should have climbed to #1! It's a powerful rock tune and her voice sounds so perfect! It's such an intense song! It's not a cover of the Oasis song as many think. The video features Lisa singing with coloured shots moving across the screen, it's actually pretty interesting!
"Love Me Tender" was released on October 8, 2010 and features both Lisa and Elvis Presley. It's set to appear on the dutch version of "Viva Elvis", which was released on November 16. (You can find it HERE). The song sounds really sweet. Their voices blend really well and even if Elvis is dead, it actually seems a real duet. Lisa is an incredible vocalist after all and can do magic with any song she's thrown, that's why she won the XF after all!
