I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

Sabina Ddumba: "Scarred For Life"
13 March, 2014 7:00 PM
Published by MDS
I knew we were seeing her again! After being inexplicably cut during the Judges Houses of the first and only season of the XF Sweden two years ago (no wonder why it flopped), the gorgeous stunner is releasing her debut single, "Scarred For Life", possibly due to her involvement with the show. All kidding aside, the tune is an emotional soulful ballad with some fantastic, equally heart-pulling mournful lyrics, especially it's surprisingly catchy chorus, "Cuts are getting deeper. You really fucked me up this time. I just can't stop bleeding, baby I am scarred for life". Released via Warner Music, this could very well be the launch Sabina was hoping the XF could give her.

Manda: "Criminals" + "Sweetest Heartbreak" Video
28 January, 2014 5:33 PM
Published by MDS
Good news for Manda fans! Not only does the former X Factor Sweden contestant has two songs out, the incredibly catchy "Sweetest Heartbreak", a song even Katy Perry would be jealous of, and the wonderful, equally addictive, pop ballad "Criminals", but she's also competing on this year's Melodifestivalen, which begins this Saturday (February 1), with the song "Glow", something that could potentially make her star a lot brighter. "Glow" was written by Joy Deb, Linnea Deb and Charlie Mason, the same team that wrote "Criminals", along with Melanie Wehbe, of Idol Sweden fame, and if that's any indication, her entry could very well end up taking home the prize.

I'm looking for a Swedish translator, if anyone is interested, please email me.
J.E.M., our manufactured group, and the last one remaining, left the competition last week, when the audience decided to save fellow bottom 2 contestant Isak Danielsson, who seems to be less unlikely to win as the weeks past. Who'll be crowned the winner tonight? Old fashioned Benny Hult? Poppet Awa Santensson-Sey? Or underrated soulman Isak? ... It's time to face the music!

Two contestants were eliminated during last week's result show, struggling girl band Hey Mary and teen heartthrob and, to me, one of the front runners of the competition, Oscar Zia. The theme this week is Swedish songs so the contestants will be taking on Sweden's best. (Btw, sorry about the low quality pics, the site I use to fetch them didn't post them this week) Who'll miss on the Top 6? ... It's time to face the music!

X Factor Sverige 2012: Top 9 Redux Perform

The unexpected happened when Manda returned to the competition a day after she was eliminated from the show. In fact, Hey Mary was the act to receive the least amount of votes but the girls also got to stay in the competition. So that can only mean one thing, this week we will have a double elimination! I expect Manda to survive but my prediction for the girlband isn't so bright. One thing is certain though, with the added pressure of a double elimination, we'll be presented some incredible performances! ... It's time to face the music!

UPDATE: Episode 6 added. I'm also looking for a Swedish translator, if interested, please email me.
I'm sorry for the delay but I've been swamped with all the shows I'm covering. Who'd have thought that covering 4 shows will take so much of my time? Haha. But now that I made a little space, I decided I better started covering the show. As you all remember, Idol Sweden went on hiatus after Amanda Fondell was declared the winner and TV4 decided to replace it with The Voice and The X Factor. The Voice premiered earlier this year, with Ulf Nilsson winning the show, and now, it's the XF turn! Hosted by David Hellenius and judged by former Idol judge Andreas Carlsson, singer and Melodifestivalen 2012 entry Marie Serneholt, hip-hop duo Ison & Fille member Ison Glasgow and 90s popular singer Orup, the show will hopefully fill the gap left by Idol and if not successful, Idol can always return next year ...
