I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

The Voice Australia Season 2: Live Finals: Top 16 - Part 1 - Perform

Photobucket

The wonderful Emma Pask and powerhouse singer Lyric McFarland were unjustly eliminated the previous week, leaving us with only 16 artists, 4 per team. The live finals are finally here and by Tuesday, 12 will be left. There's also a save in play tonight. The judges will be able to save one of their acts from the public's votes. Who'll it be? ... This is The Voice!

The Voice of Ukraine: Season 3: The Battles

 photo TheVoiceofUkraine_zps08cfa3d1.png
They say life is a battlefield. Well, I don't know about life, but The Voice certainly is. Imagine how does it feel to be a contestant - one day the judges battle each other over you and then you battle with another contestant over them. Tough! The good news are, you don't have to battle anyone, so just relax and enjoy the show!

KZ Tandingan: Debut Album Out Now!

 photo KZTandingan_zpsc63a4f4a.png
Wondering where she's been hiding all this time? KZ was crowned the inaugural winner of the X Factor Philippines back in October. We've gotten nothing from her since, besides the occasional TV appearance. 5 months later, here she is, with a brand new album and single. Released on May 3, the self titled debut showcases her gorgeous tone to perfection, "Umiibig" is one of the songs that comes to mind. It's a relief to see that she's stayed truth to herself, with her jazz roots staying intact. Her original cover of "Killing Me Softly" is also a stand out, with her emotional first single "Scared to Death" also worth a listen and the slow "Bakit Lumuluha" the stunner of the album. All in all, a wonderful first effort from an insanely talented singer. She has a bright future ahead and I intend following it.

Interview: Amanda

 photo Amanda3_zpsd86bacd5.png
She'll always be remembered as that phenomenal singer who shockingly missed the final on the sixth season of the Danish XF. Amanda was the front runner from the very beginning yet she only placed 4th in the competition. It's hard to say what went wrong, since the girl didn't miss a beat in the entire competition. This is my chat with her, in which she answered some burning questions for us. Like, who was the master mind behind those amazing songs, why we saw her cry during the JH and what's next for her. If you ask me, brilliance.

Poll: X Factor New Zealand Is a Go!

 photo Banner_zps5a83ddce.png

UPDATE: I've decided to start covering the show! Since this is it's first season, I won't be recapping either the auditions, bootcamp or Judges Houses, just the liveshows. Let's just treat it as an experiment! The first performance show airs May 19!

Almost 3 years since first announced, the X Factor NZ is finally seeing the light of day. Judged by Daniel Bedingfield, Melanie Blatt, Ruby Frost and Australian Idol S7 winner Stan Walker, the show, which premiered today, is NZ's first attempt at the franchise. XF Australia has been quite great the last couple of years and The Voice Australia is a monumental success. Could NZ achieve the same amount of talent? Can the production values be as high as their Aussie counterpart? Most importantly, can it produce a star? As you can see, I'm in a dilemma and I need your help to solve it. You'll find a poll after the jump and hopefully, it'll make me decide if it'll be worth recapping!

The Voice UK: Season 2: The Battle Rounds!

 photo TheVoiceUKlogo.png
So after several weeks of blind auditions, we're at the Battle Rounds when each coach will slice their teams in half by pitting them against each other in pairs. However, this year there is a twist as each coach has one 'steal' which allows them to steal an act that one of their fellow coaches has decided to send home. So as twelve acts are cut down to six then rounded up to seven, who will deliver a knockout blow and who will be KO'd by their opponent?
