I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

Stan Walker was born on 23 October, 1990 in New Zeland. After winning he was signed to Sony Music Entertainment Australia. Walker's debut single, "Black Box" was available to download on bandit.fm immediately following his win, on Sunday 22 November 2009. "Black Box" debuted at #2 on the ARIA Charts, dated 30 November 2009. His album "Introducing... Stan Walker" will be released on Friday, 11 December 2009. His debut album will consist of songs he performed on Australian Idol, such as Prince's Purple Rain, and Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah. It will also include a duet with the original Australian Idol Guy Sebastian. Walker said that he would also like to collaborate with former Idol contestants such as Jessica Mauboy and Ricki-Lee Coulter. He is a very original singer with a rare raspy voice. He definitely deserved to win.

HAYLEY WARNER
Hayley Warner is a 17-year-old from the south of Sydney. She is the lead singer of her band, Bleached Academy and used to work in retail at a surf shop. After becoming the runner-up, she was signed to Sony Music, the same label Stan was signed to. Warner's debut single will be Good Day. It will be released both instore and digitally on 11 December 2009 and her debut album will be released in 2010. Her performances were the bomb, the only thing I wanted to see was her performance, and her way of singing is a very unique one.

NATHAN BRAKE
Nathan Brake is a 17-year-old from Guildford, Sydney. He is a student at the Australian International Performing Arts High School and also the lead singer of his band, Ackolade. He was the best male singer in the competition, hitting very high notes. His performance of It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing) was a-mazing, I absolutely loved it.

Toby Moulton
Toby Moulton is a 30-year-old primary school teacher, born in Melrose, South Australia. He teaches at Star of the Sea primary school in Henley Beach. He left Australia in shock after deciding to withdrew from the competition because he wanted to be a teacher. His performances were so acoustic that sometimes there were boring, but he was quite a good singer.

Kate Cook
Kate Cook is a 26-year-old from Lowood, Queensland. She used to work as a meat cutter at an abattoir before the show. Her mother, who is her biggest musical influence, committed suicide when Kate was 16. She was definitely the country girl of the season, wearing her unmistakable cowgirl hat. Her performance of Landslide was her best, being the others a bit boring in my opinion.

Kim Cooper
Kim Cooper is a 21-year-old who was born in Melbourne. At age 17, she moved to Townsville, Queensland, after her father was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder. She wasn't the best singer but her catchy performances make me enjoy her very much.

Tim Johnston
Tim Johnston was born in 1981 in Newcastle, New South Wales. He auditioned for The X Factor, Series 5, while living in the United Kingdom. He advanced to the bootcamp round, but failed to make the cut for the Visit to the Judges' houses. Although at the beginning I didn't like him, I later realised he wasn't a bad singer, bringing R&B songs in his own style.

SABRINA BATSHON
Sabrina Batshon was born on October 26, 1984 from Rhodes, Sydney. She began singing and dancing at the age of two at the Johnny Young Talent School. She had roles on Australian television including Water Rats, G.P. and Home and Away. She won several talent quests including the McDonald’s Performing Arts Challenge. In 2000, she sang with The Australian Girls Choir and Paulini for the Qantas campaign CD, The Spirit of Australia. She was understudy to Nikki Webster as Dorothy in a 2000/2001 stage performance of The Wizard of Oz and appeared in the 2001 production of The Witches of Eastwick (musical) in Melbourne. She attended the Newtown High School of the Performing Arts and was named in November 2004 in Parliament by Andrew Refshauge as being one of Australia’s best singers. During 2005 and early 2009 Batshon experienced chronic depression, agoraphobia and panic attacks, and was admitted to hospital. Producer Stephen Tate said speaking "openly and honestly" about depression was the way forward for the media and community. She was my favourite this season and I got very sad when she was eliminated. She remembers me of Fran Drescher of The Nanny. I guess all her drama played against her as she was an extremely good singer. I hope someone sees how good she is and offers her a record deal.

Ashleigh Toole is an 18-year-old student from the Central Coast, New South Wales. She grew up performing in multiple music festivals with her family. Her true talent counldn't be shown as she was eliminated to early, but there are no doubts how good she is.
