I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

Two weeks ago, the Danish public was selecting their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest but only now, you'll hear from it here. 10 contestants were initally going to participate in the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix, but following the disqualification of Valen:Tine, only 9 contestants were left to perform. So do you want to find out who is going to represent Denmark in May? Find out next ...
Recap after the JUMP ...
Semi-finalists
Valen:Tine
"Nowhere" - 8/10 - Valen:Tine never got to actually perform her song on the DMGP cause her song, "Nowhere" got disqualified from the competition cause it was realeased before being allowed to. The truth is that Tine had an incrediblly strong tune and I'm confident it would've impressed the audience greatly. Oh, well, she always can come back next year. I hope she does ...
Suriya
"Forever I B Young" - 2/10 - Really not my cup of tea, definitely not. To me, this is the worst
entry of the night. She may be trying to be hip with this but the vocals
and the tune itself are not doing it for me. A trainwreck and one
involving a plane ...
Ditte Marie
"Overflow" - 6/10 - Fun electropop song ... and that's just about it. Ilike Ditte's voice, it actually reminds me to Madonna a little, with her disco driven sound. The song however, is not as interesting as her voice, I think she would've done much better with a slower, more emotional tune as opposed to this very shallow performance.
Karen Viuff
"Universe" - 7,5/10 - The song isn't the most exciting thing ever but there's something about it that's very captivating. Karen's delivery is a bit flat, probably cause she's really nervous, the girl looks really new to this. The song is definitely a stand-out, it's writers should be very proud, had Karen's performance been a little more powerful, this would sail to the final. That didn't happen, but apparently, Karen is now going to re-record this song as a duet with Nikki, Eurovision's 2011 winner, and shoot a music video with her. Expect a lot more from her ...
Kenneth Potempa
"Reach for the Sky" - 8/10 - I was expecting to totally hate this one if I'm totally honest. Truth is, that Kenneth actually has a fantastic tone. It's smoothness in his voice is really pleasant and he's look reminds me to Danny Saucedo's. Plus this song is radio-ready and that's the important thing here ...
Emilia & Philip
"Baby, Love Me" - 8/10 - They are both playing piano, facing each other. This romantic tune has "Running Scared" all over it and though it's not as good as it, the song does the job. It's definitely not as mainstream as the other but it's indie vibe and their vocals are very lovely. Cute stuff ...
Aya
"Best Thing I Got" - 9,5/10 - Amazing! I love everything about this one, her childish look, her quirky voice and most importantly, this song. Despite some notes in which her voice cracked a little, the performance was exciting and interesting. I don't know if she can win with this but she'll surely have a great carrer after this.
Finalists
3rd - Christian Brøns & Patrik Isaksson
"Venter" - 5/10 - This is the only song in danish in the whole contest and it's also coming from the oldest contestants. I'm not sure why they decided to include them in this. Why not giving a chance to the younger artists? This duo is old fashioned and their song is too. They sounded ok but for 1990's Eurovision.Glad they only placed third. (Only vid I found)
2nd - Jesper Nohrstedt
"Take Our Hearts" - 10/10 - Look who's back! For blog regulars it shouldn't be hard to remember him but if you don't, Jesper was the third placer during the XF Denmark's 2010 season, which was won by Thomas. I just can say wow! This is the best song of the night and Jesper's delivery is flawless. He's voice is still as great as it was on XF and he's still as charming as he was back then. The team behind this got everything right, there's not even a tiny mistake here. Despite he didn't win, Jesper manged to achieve the 2nd place and his song charted at #4, not shabby at all for a newcomer!
1st - Soluna Samay
"Should've Known Better" - 10/10 - So the big winner and the act that will represent Denmark in the 2012 Eurovision is Soluna Samay! Firstly, I'm not dissapointed at all with the decision. "Should've Known Better" and "Take Our Hearts" were the strongest songs in the competition and I'm glad it came down to them. Penned by XF Denmark judge, Remee, Chief 1 and Isam Bachiri, the song accomplishes to interest the listener and to me, it does what Lena's "Satellite" did when it won, let's see if Soluna manages to do the same thing.
