I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

This is it!!! The semi-finals are finally here! 12 guys and 12 girls will fight in the following two nights for a place in the Top 13 and be closer to the ultimate prize, a record deal! Tonight, the boys will leave all on stage to impress the viewers enough to secure them a spot, who will crumble on stage? who will impress? ... This is American Idol!
Read my comments and watch the performances after the JUMP ...
Clint Gamboa
1-866-436 5701 - Superstitious (Stevie Wonder) - 9/10 - Poor Clint! He doesn't stand a chance! Death spot and a cheesy song choice. Bye Bye. His voice is as good as always, he's definitely an amazing singer but American won't forget his Hollywood Jacee drama, so Clint, you are gone. Still, you are gone with style! That was hell of a performance dude! VIDEO HERE
Jovany Barreto
1-866-436 5702 - I’ll Be (Edward McCann) - 4/10 - I hate him! HATE HIM! He's the most boring and cheesy singer ever! His voice is plain, he's horrible to look at and even his singing style sucks. I'm falling asleep while watching this! A hot mess!! VIDEO HERE
Jordan Dorsey
1-866-436 5703 - OMG (Usher) - 4,5/10 - Another trainwreck! WTF is this Jordan? Where's the soulish piano teacher? The falsetto was nice but this is just not him! As Clint Jordan won't overcome his Hollywood bitchy attitude annd he really needed a stellar performance, and this wasn't. Great dancer yet! VIDEO HERE
Tim Halperin
1-866-436 5704 - Streetcorner Symphony/Come on Over (Rob Thomas) - 7/10 - I love this kid's voice. It's really soulish and really similar to last two winners, Kris and Lee. He's got a beautiful falsetto and it's singing this ok. However, I think this is the wrong song for him and he seems uncomfortable on stage without his piano. Not the best, but nice vocals. VIDEO HERE
Brett Loewenstern
1-866-436 5705 - Light My Fire (The Doors) - 6/10 - I can't stand Brett anymore. I liked him earlier but he's getting annoying now. WTF is this? I like his voice but this performane is a mess! His hair whipping, his attitude and even his voice sounds a bit pitchy. Still, he's a great performer but this didn't work for me. VIDEO HERE
James Durbin
1-866-436 5706 - You Got Another Thing Comin’ (Judas Priest) - 8/10 - I'm hating he's trying to copy Adam. Adam can't be topped, James, just go the rock/metal way. He's wearing a tail!!! There's no doubt he has a huge voice but he's not a great performer. The thinner high notes are stellar, much in Adam's style. James isn't better but he's near Adam. I don't know what to say about what just happened! That ending was fucking crazy good! As Steven said! VIDEO HERE
Robbie Rosen
1-866-436 5707 - In the Arms of An Angel (Sarah MacLachlan) - 7,5/10 - This is too slow. Robbie has a beautiful falsetto and is singing this song beautifully but I still don't get why he's singing something so slow. This is great but not as good as it could have been. Still, Robbie is one of the best tonight! VIDEO HERE
Scotty McCreery
1-866-436 5708 - Letters From Home (John Michael Montgomery) - 7/10 - I hate this kid, hate his personality, hate his deep voice. Of course he's singing country! He's sitting on a stool singing this slow song looking at the camera as if he was trying to seduce it. Tweens and fraus will love this and I just hate that will happen! He's trying to appear more matture than he really is and I just hate that! Although this performance didn't suck, I don't dig this type of singers at all! VIDEO HERE
Stefano Langone
1-866-436 5709 - Just The Way You Are (Bruno Mars) - 7,5/10 - Stefano is probably the cuttest guy but this performance is as cheesy as it gets! I actually like his singing, he's very Bruno Mars, after all this is Bruno's song, but the comparission is perfect. You know why? Because he's a karaoke singer. And that final notes were so rough! Don't believe me? Watch Jlo's face! VIDEO HERE
Paul McDonald
1-866-436 5710 - Maggie Mae (Rod Stewart) - 10/10 - Paul is amazing! And he's all smiles!! He reminds me of Alice in Wonderland's cat! Paul probably has the most unique voice that Idol has ever had. He's the quircky contestants Idol finals need! I'll tell you Paul will go far! He's an amazing performer and knows to work the stage! His hands are a bit wierd but he's wierd! WOW! AMAZING! VIDEO HERE
Jacob Lusk
1-866-436 5711 - House Is Not A Home (Luther Vandross) - 10/10 - Jacob is definitely the biggest singer here! His gospel vibe won't prove contemporary but show that he definitely can sing! And it will probably work for some weeks, until this thing bores us all. I love his tone! His voice is crazy! Out of this world! JLo is right, Luther is gone and now we have Jacob! Final note!!! OMG! VIDEO HERE
Casey Abrams
1-866-436 5712 - I Put A Spell On You – 20/10 - Casey was ill this week. I LOVE this kid! His definitely my fave! A great performer and one of the best voices in Idol's history! This performance is wicked! So hot vocally! Breathtaking! And he was in the hospital in the moring! This proves that Casey is an amazing singer even if he's sick!!! STANDING O!! VIDEO HERE
That's it guys!!! Who are your Top 13 picks? Only 5 guys and 5 girls will advance via voting with 3 more being judges wildcards! My picks: Casey, Paul, Jacob, Scotty and James via voting, with Brett or Tim as wildcard, probably Brett.
