We had some shocking results last week, with Sarah Simmons and Judith Hill leaving the competition. 6 acts remain now, 3 on Team Blake and only 1 on Teams Shakira, Usher and Adam. Tonight, the contestants will perform two songs each, one picked by their coach and one  by themselves. Instead of featuring another double elimination, 5 contestants will be advancing to the semi-finals. The pressure is on, who will be leaving us this week?

Recap and videos after the JUMP ...

"When God-Fearin' Women Get the Blues" - Team Blake - 6/10 - Blake picked this song because bringing out her attitude worked last week. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? "Martina is quite killer, she gets that microphone in her hand and she turns into this gladiator and you've got the same thing" Blake says. Another entertaining performance for Holly, she's much better when she shows us this feisty side. Glad Blake realized this is what she should be doing. That said and despite her great vocals, it's just way too similar to last week's performance, she should be taking some risks. This is too safe. "I wanna go on record right now saying that is by far my favourite performance by you this season" (Blake)

Michelle Chamuel

"Somewhere Only We Know" - Team Usher - 8,5/10 - Usher says he doesn't feel as a coach anymore but as a friend. He feel this song has a significant message about love and life and that message is great for the world to be able to connect with her.  I'm a huge fan of Michelle, everything about her is so sincere, the way she pours all her emotions into every single tone is outstanding. The performance got off to a slow start but she got back on track almost immediately. She's just awesome. "It's so cool to see Michelle. I know you from the past S2, and coming back, continuing to impress us and just carving out your own spot in the universe, I think that's the sing of a really great artist" (Adam)

 The Swon Brothers

 photo TheSwonBrothers_zps6b95d826.png

"Wagon Wheel" - Team Blake - 5/10 - They chose this song because it's in the vibe of what they want to do. They want to be current. They both worked at the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame. They also name check some OK artists. Generic country performance for our country duo. I didn't expect less. Can Blake just try to do something different with them? What they are doing is just boring me. "There's nobody else that sounds like you, you guys are completely different and that's a really good thing" (Blake) Seriously Blake? They sound exactly like every other country duo.

Sasha Allen

"Ain't No Way" - Team Shakira - 9,5/10 - Sasha has been hearing Aretha since the day she was born. This song is her mom's fave. She's the main reason she's a singer. She's an assistant principal at her daughter's school. After last week's lackluster performance, Sasha is back to full form. This is the type of performance in which she shines and damn she did. What I love about her is that she goes all in when she performs, she goes as high as her range allows it and just leaves her soul out there. A terrific performance, she's officially back in the game. "I just have one question, who out of all the artists can sing that song so well? Nobody could do that song cause you have this cinematic voice that just transports the entire audience to another place and time and just made me feel so much" (Shakira)

Danielle Bradbery

"Shake the Sugar Tree" - Team Blake - 7,5/10 - Blake wants to introduce classic country songs to a whole new audience through Danielle. He says this song is about demanding attention. This is the second Pam Tillis' song Blake's given her, "Maybe It Was Memphis" being the first one. This is no challenge for Danielle and since she's so confident with the song, she effortlessly delivered that performance. Maybe that's why she looks so at ease when she's on stage. This was another lovely sounding pick for Danielle though. She's starting to sound the same with every performance though. "You come out here with such confidence, even though I felt at one point you were a little nervous, but you come out here and you posses the type of confidence to continue to keep you growing" (Usher)

 Amber Carrington

"I Remember You" - Team Adam - 8/10 - She had no clue who Skid Row were. Adam wants Amber to transform this song into something really country. She loves bluegrass music, it makes her feel at home. This is a cool arrangement, this rock song worked perfect with the country treatment. It's also an ideal pick for Amber to show off those massive pipes of hers. What I like about her is that she's taking risks. She's a country singer yet she's gone from Adele to Kelly Clarkson in a matter of weeks. She's the definition of versatility. Not her strongest performance but it was still quite great to listen to. "It's so crazy it worked. What's great about this is that I'm so happy waking up every morning, doing what I do and knowing that I'm trying to do something different, you take risks, some times they pan out, sometimes they don't. I don't feel alive unless I'm taking them and I'm so happy that you represent my team because you want to take those risks" (Adam)

 The Swon Brothers

"Okie From Muskogee" - Team Blake - 3/10 - Blake loves that they are doing this. "It's easily one of the most classic country songs that's ever been performed here on The Voice, that's a tall order but if anybody can do this is a couple of Oklahomans" Blake says. God, can they get more cheesy? Such a dated, humorless song. I keep waiting for them to be eliminated so I don't have to put up with this kind of performances any more but unfortunately, I think they'll stick around one more week with this sudden chance of elimination number. As they predicted, not a lot of people have heard this song, I certainly didn't, but if their version was supposed to convert me or something I'm sorry to announce that it didn't work at all. Easily the most boring performance I've ever witnessed. "This song really does prove that you don't have to smoke marijuana to have a good time, just go to Oklahoma" (Usher)

Holly Tucker

"My Wish" - Team Blake - 5,5/10 -  This song is helping her connect with the inspiration her parents are to her. She was 7 y/o when she performed with her dad for the first time since then, the three of them have performed as a trio throughout Texas. There's literally a lighthouse on stage. Can the set on this show be any more cheesier? As usual, nice vocals but unoriginal. She's actually showing a bit more connection with this song but not much. She's ok on ballads but she's much better with uptempo tracks. She's playing it so safe, I'm not sure she will survive. "You've really shown the range of the scope, I think it's kinda crucial at this point to kinda show every side of who you are and I think that's what's been cool is how much diversity you have" (Adam)

Michelle Chamuel

 photo MichelleChamuel_zps63451d69.png

"I Knew You Were Trouble" - Team Usher - 9/10 - She thinks Taylor is amazing. She thinks it'd be cool to show how she could fit in the Top 40. Michelle gets a surprise visit from Taylor herself! "Things like this happen on Team Usher" Usher says. Singing it to Taylor was crazy for her. Taylor loved what Michelle did, "I'm so excited" she says. I've realized that it takes a while for Michelle to start nailing it but once she does, her performance is explosive. She's such a blessed performer, she actually reminds me to Pink. She turned this pop song into a complete rock n roll killer track. Can she be any more phenomenal? If she doesn't take the title I'll be extremely pissed. "I'm so freaking jealous right now. That was just so intense" (Blake)

Amber Carrington

 photo AmberCarrington_zpsb3347234.png

"Crazy" - Team Adam - 9/10 -  Adam thinks she's the most versatile. She wants her to do the most interesting thing they can do. He thinks this is a brilliant pick. She says this song takes her back home. "This song could be my big country moment" Amber says. This is really subtle. She's not hitting the big notes she's accustomed us to and despite that, it's extremely pretty. I love how bluesy it sounds. This is one of those gorgeous performances that goes unnoticed because there are no huge notes on it but it shouldn't because this is probably one of Amber's most beautiful performances. She's constantly proved she deserves to make it to the final 3. "I didn't know that you could do this airy voice, I thought that was beautiful, dreamy and a beautiful rendition of a country classic" (Shakira)

Danielle Bradbery

 photo DanielleBradbery_zps022c3753.png

"A Little Bit Stronger" - Team Blake - 8,5/10 - She chose this song because she thought of her sister who went through a hard time in her relationships. Blake says she also wants to showcase her upper register. I think it'll be hard for her to connect with the song since she's never experienced it. She coped really well though, it's a bit more upbeat than her past two performances and her voice sounds beautiful on it. Her voice sounded perfect on this, she did a great job by picking this song. Her voice cracked on the last big note but I actually liked how that sounded. This was probably my fave performance of her. "That was an incredible build up for the crescendo at the end and I saw you pacing yourself and I was 'what is she doing? is she ...' wrapping up for that incredible amazing note at the end of the song" (Usher)

Sasha Allen

 photo SashaAllen_zps8d5c51d6.png

"Before He Cheats"   - Team Shakira - 8/10 - Shakira freaked out when Sasha was saved last week. "I lost my mind for a second" she says. Shakira  picked this song because she wants to show that Sasha can do anything. "We are trying to take this song from the country to the city" she says. Sasha said it herself, this is bad ass. It's probably not the wisest pick but she definitely got the emotional part of the song right. She looked totally pissed. A fierce performance, not perfect vocally but a lot more entertaining than some other acts tonight. And yes, I'm talking about Team Blake. She'll probably survive this week since she delivered such a terrific performance earlier but Shakira needs to pick better songs to showcase her RnB soulful style the next time. "I think they liked it. Sasha, I guess there's more than one Sasha Fierce. You've got an incredible voice and that was really remarkable" (Usher)

For a moment, I thought The Swon Brothers were going home but given they are the last male contestants in the competition, I'd have been a miracle if that had happened. Holly was the worst female contestant remaining and her inability to bring diversity to the stage was what ultimately did her in. The last two weeks she showed us a fun, feisty side but unfortunately, that wasn't enough for the gospel country singer to survive one more week.
