I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

Lena Horne was born on June 30, 1917, the jazz diva and actress quickly gained all the hearts with her cute face and her wonderful voice.
Her carrer began as a nightclub performer at 16 at the chorus of the Cotton Club in New York. After moving to Hollywood, Lena starred in several minor roles and in more substantial parts in the films "Cabin in the Sky" and "Stormy Weather".
She later changed her direction, focusing on her musical carrer. In 1981, she recived a Special Tony Award for her one-woman show, Lena Horne: The Lady and Her Music. In the 90s she began more active in recording music, with nearly 80 years. To date, she has won 8 Grammys, 2 Tonys, 1 Emmy and several other awards.
Unfortunately, on May 9, 2010, Lena died at 92 at the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City of heart failure, and Jazz lost one of her most precious voices.
