Carrie Underwood's first single of her third album was officially released on September 14, 2009, and it serves as the lead-off single to her third studio album, Play On. 'Cowboy Casanova' is an up-tempo country song. In the song, a female narrator warns another that the man she is interested in is no good; he is just a 'cowboy casanova'. A music video was filmed on September 2, 2009, in New Orleans, Louisiana, which premiered during CMT's Big New Music Weekend on October 2, 2009.
