Four shows in and still no serious contenders in the groups category, it really is looking like the Groups may have a poor year after Little Mix's victory last year. However, tonight promises to offer us something more as the show travels to Liverpool where Geri Haliwell AKA Annoying Spice (she's Ginger Spice, don't worry Spice Girls fans) joins the panel and proceeds to annoy everyone.

Recap and videos after the JUMP ...

Up first for the Liverpool crowd are girlband The It Girls, a four-piece who automatically get Geri onside by telling her that they're inspired by The Spice Girls. They're singing 'Stop', one of Geri's famous girlband's most famous hits. It's not amazing but it's not awful either, it's just sort of average. Gary tells them that there wasn't one voice between them but Geri hits back at him telling him that not everybody in Take That could sing. Although ironic coming from Geri, she's not telling a lie, not all of Take That could sing. At the same time, not all of The Spice Girls could sing either. - VIDEO

That clash between Gary and Geri leads to a montage of Gary and Geri disagreeing on just about everything. Up first are girlband Sorority who tell the judges that they're singing 'The Flood' by Take That. Geri sarcastically says 'Oh, I like that one'. These girls are actually quite good, their harmonies are nice and they have a sort of operatic feel to their voices, it's nice. Next is Voxe who also name Spice Girls as their musical heroes. You can tell from Gary's expression that he has already made up his mind on these girls. I actually like their rendition of 'We Found Love', they remind me of Husstle from a few years ago. Chris Culligan also finds an ally in Geri, just a pity that his rendition of 'Feeling Good' leaves a lot left to be desired. Martin Sayer who sings 'Iris' doesn't stand out for me and gets a No from Geri. Jade Jackson is the last auditionee in the montage, her rapping is pretty good though it doesn't impress Gary.

Hoping to finally get Gary and Geri onside are Times Red, they're a trio and they're singing 'Rehab' by Amy Winehouse. I really like the guy in the middle who acts as the lead singer, his tone is unique and interesting and I really enjoy his rendition of the song, even the harmonies from the other members of the group are pretty great however one of the band begins to beatbox, something which I'm not a massive fan of to be perfectly honest and I feel like it takes away from the feel of the performance. The judges love them and all four say yes for once however for me, whilst they're good, they're definitely not incredible, let's hope we see more good groups. - VIDEO

We're in Manchester now and my favourite guest judge Mel B is rejoining the panel again. We have a montage of teenagers first of all. Up first in the montage is Megan O'Neill, a sixteen year-old who is performing 'When I Look At You' by Miley Cyrus. Wow, her voice is incredibly sophisticated for such a young age and she has an awful lot of soul in her voice too, definitely impressed by her and wish she had been given a full performance. 17-year-old Tasha Pyne is next up and she is also stunning to look at as well as stunning vocally, I adore her voice, very sultry and very gentle but all the same, she has an incredible tone and I also wish that she had been shown a little bit more. - VIDEO

This is all leading up to the return of Melanie McCabe from last year. Melanie, from Dublin auditioned last year and got to Judge's Houses where Kelly Rowland rejected her. She tells us how she was devastated after being rejected last year and says that her mother helped her to get over her disappointment and bounce back from her rejection. Personally I agreed with her not getting through last year, she has a nice voice but the four who did get through were much more distinctive and for me at least, Melanie has little stage presence or little that makes her stand out from the crowd. She's singing 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' by Simon & Garfunkel, I personally don't love the song but it's okay.  The judges rave about her and tell her that she has come back even stronger and even better, personally whilst the vocal was good, there was absolutely no emotion in her voice and I also found that she lacked star quality or stage presence. Is Melanie talented? Yes. Is she a star? Probably not. - VIDEO

We're back in Liverpool again and another montage of out of tune singers follows where the judges are more than a little underwhelmed by the talent on offer. Up next is Jason Viet Tien who has taken a fancy to one judge in particular, the wonderful 'Tulisha'. He absolutely loves Tulisha and says that he thinks about her a lot. This pre-audition interview is more than a little reminiscent of a sketch show, he honestly comes across like a comedy character and his pronunciation of Tulisa's name is pretty hilarious. He gives her a rose and then proceeds to argue with Louis about the pronunciation of her name, this audition is absolutely crazy so far. He's singing 'I Have Nothing' by Whitney Houston, he's not awful but he's hardly a serious contender in the competition, his voice is just alright, it's nothing to write home about and although entertaining, I wouldn't be at all surprised if we don't see any more of Tulisha's man Jason. - VIDEO

Another montage, this time it's contestants who are more than a little bit nervous about their audition which somehow gets in the way of their audition and although we don't see the full breakdown of Yeses and No's, it's probably safe to say that none of them get through.

Last up and definitely very nervous is 34-year-old Christopher Maloney who speaks about the special connection he shares with his nan who he has always been very close to and who he describes as his biggest fan. He reveals that he moved in with her after the death of his grandfather and today he is singing 'The Rose' by Bette Midler which was played at his grandfather's funeral. Sob story over, onto the singing. I won't lie, considering how emotional he appears to come across, I was a bit disappointed that none of that came through in the performance, maybe it's because the song is a little bit dated but the whole performance is pretty shouty and not that great at all. The judges love it and rave over him with Gary saying that he can't believe that he has kept his voice hidden for so long. Christopher is good but I really don't feel like he was deserved of such hype as though he definitely seems a very nice guy, I just wasn't wowed by his audition. - VIDEO
