I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

X Factor UK 2012: Top 3 Perform: The Final!

Union J lost out on a place in the final last week after polling the least votes in an unsurprising result. So now we have an all solo male final, Christopher Maloney for the Overs and Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur for the Boys. Personally, I would like James to win but I have a feeling that it might just be Jahmene who clinches it and there's always the fear that Christopher could end up winning, hopefully not but you never know with this show. X Factor UK 2012: Top 4 Perform: The Semi-Final!

We lost Rylan last week which was probably a bit of a loss entertainment wise for the show but let's be honest, on a talent basis he did sort of overstay his welcome. I quite enjoyed his performances but I'm glad that we have a final four with three acts who have at least a decent amount of talent, even Chris who is the weakest in my opinion can sing. As only three can make the final, which of the four will miss out? It's Time To Face The Music!

X Factor UK 2012: Top 5 Perform: Abba and Motown
26 November, 2012 2:47 PM

The public reached a new low last week by the best two contestants remaining (Ella and James) landing in the bottom two and when Ella was sent home, the public were furious with many people taking to Twitter to complain about the result. Sadly the reality is that if you don't vote, you can't complain. It also means we're left with five acts, realistically with only one (James) being capable of any sort of successful music career after the show. The series has messed up big time and it's going to suffer from a very lacklustre final as a result of this. With rumours of a big twist this weekend, it's time to face the music!

X Factor UK 2012: Top 6 Perform: Guilty Pleasures!

I feel a bit ambivalent towards the show now, it just hasn't piqued my interest and even last week when finally one of the weaker acts went, I felt little care for any of the acts. James and Ella are probably the best two left but even they can't really save this series in my opinion, it's probably going to end up being the weakest series of the show to date. With tonight being Guilty Pleasures week, don't expect anything different, Christopher will sing a song older than the average age of an X Factor voter, James will do an amazing job with a quirky choice and Rylan's performance will be no different to any other week. It's Time To Face The Music!

X Factor UK 2012: Top 7 Perform: Best Of British

The public suck, I have come to that conclusion after another awful elimination when talented Kye Sones was eliminated in favour of Rylan Clark, who I am warming to but was all the same considerably weaker than Kye. What annoys me is that Christopher and District 3 are sailing through despite weak performances every week and the likes of Kye and Jade Ellis who were great singers and performers have been eliminated. Tonight, the remaining seven contestants will sing Best Of British. It's Time To Face The Music!

X Factor UK 2012: Top 8 Perform: Number Ones
04 November, 2012 11:05 PM
Published by Kevin Mc Stravock
If you're reading this, wondering if my subtraction skills are terrible, there is an explanation. Last week, 9 of the Top 10 performed after Lucy got a bye due to illness leading to the departure of yet another talented act in Jade Ellis, the less said about the shoddy decision made by the judges the better. However, Lucy hasn't got much better and is still too ill to perform tonight so she has decided to withdraw from the competition, believing that it would be unfair for her to be given another bye tonight were she unable to perform. Sadly, that means that we're down to 8 acts as there will be no replacement for Lucy, contrary to my original hopes that we might see the triumphant return of Jade Ellis. It also means that we'll most likely have single eliminations throughout the competition this year as presumably, they planned a double elimination with the addition of Christopher Maloney to the competition. Anyway, tonight the remaining contestants will sing Number Ones. Will Jahmene give a ballsy performance? Will Rylan sing a ballad as promised? Will Christopher sing another 80's karaoke classic? Find out the answer to these questions below. It's Time To Face The Music!

X Factor UK 2012: Top 10 Perform: Halloween Week
29 October, 2012 4:55 PM
Published by Kevin Mc Stravock
Another week, another slightly disappointing result as MK1 left us against Kye sones in the sing-off but hopefully Halloween week will finally see some of the deadwood such as Rylan head home. However, already, it's not without its' controversies as an announcement this afternoon revealed that Lucy Spraggan will receive a bye into next week's show because of an illness. Diana Vickers anyone? It's Time To Face The Music!

X Factor UK 2012: Top 11 Perform: Club Classics
22 October, 2012 8:59 PM
Published by Kevin Mc Stravock
Well the show really is digging its' own grave at the moment isn't it? After a promising start, they ditched Carolynne and then last week, Melanie, two amazing acts gone in two weeks over two ridiculous acts, Rylan and District 3. It doesn't help that Louis and now Tulisa seem to think the 'sing-off' doesn't really hinge on the singing part. Melanie literally blew District 3 off the stage and then some more in her sing for survival yet apparently we'd much rather see dull, old-fashioned, generic boybands than bluesy, authentic rock and soul singers like Melanie who was also very likable and down to earth. Anyway, we also have to lay some of the blame to the teenagers who are using the new, ridiculous voting system to get their votes in for all the 'well fit' teenage singers. Obviously and sadly, ears don't develop fully in puberty until they age of about 16 or 17. Anyway, moving on, we still have a few stand-outs like Jade and James left, if either leave tonight, I'm going to throw something at my TV hoping it will go through the screen and knock one of the producers out. With club classics being tonight's theme, how relevant will the songs be? Not very relevant is the answer. Expect to hear Lucy singing original song 'Club Song', Jahmene belting out 'I Will Always Love You' and District 3 tackling club classic 'One Thing'. Oops, think I let the cat out of the bag ... It's Time To Face The Music!

X Factor UK 2012: Top 12 Perform: Love & Heartbreak
15 October, 2012 2:21 PM
Published by Kevin Mc Stravock
Well what can be said about last week's show other than that it was shameful? What an absolute farce, there's no way in hell that Carolynne deserved to go and certainly not in thos circumstances, against Rylan of all people. I need not just blame the public alone as obviously producers knew what they had to do to produce the desired result, change the voting format so people can vote for their favourites before anyone has sung, give her a strange VT, make her sing a country version of a dance-pop song and then make sure the most gullible judge takes the vote to deadlock. Unless you haven't noticed, I'm not very pleased. Hopefully tonight, as the remaining twelve contestants perform 'Love And Heartbreak' songs, we see the RIGHT result come tomorrow night, I won't be holding my breath.

X Factor UK 2012: Auditions 4

Four shows in and still no serious contenders in the groups category, it really is looking like the Groups may have a poor year after Little Mix's victory last year. However, tonight promises to offer us something more as the show travels to Liverpool where Geri Haliwell AKA Annoying Spice (she's Ginger Spice, don't worry Spice Girls fans) joins the panel and proceeds to annoy everyone.
