So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

American Idol: And the Winner Is ....

Lee DeWyze

Congratulations to Lee, your new American Idol!!!

I won't lie, I was really hoping Crystal was the winner, but I'm ok with Lee. Third year in a row that a white guy with a guitar takes the crown home, is America ever gonna change his winner type?. What about the girls year? Well, dreams don't always come true!

Good luck to both, Crystal and Lee, they have some great carrers ahead! And I'm starting my American Idol Season 9 post which I would probably post on Saturday.

Catching Up With: Katy Perry

Katy Perry is releasing her new album "Teenage Dream" on August 24! The album is her second overall, if we don't count her unsuccesfull first album. Katy said it was a song for California, she said: "What about LA? What about California?. It's been a minute since we had a California song and especially from a girl's perspective. We took the references of Prince, which is always a great reference, and some of the '90s, almost house music references"

Interview: Orla Gartland

Dublin's own Orla Gartland was born on 1995, and yes, she is just 15! But age isn't important in music, right? With one of the best young voices on YouTube, she has already reached nearly 5000 suscribers, and I bet that number will keep raising. Recently she accepted to answer some of my questions, so here there are, I hope you enjoy them. You can find her channel HERE.

Read the interview and enjoy some videos after the jump.

Song Premiere: Alex Lambert: Dream With My Eyes Open, Complete Version!

One of my favourtie Season 9 semifinalists, Alex Lambert, who is currently starring on the web show If I Can Dream, has recently recorded this new song, "Dream With My Eyes Open". Although the song is kind of cheesy, it is also extremely catchy and Alex's voice sounds beautiful. I was no surprised when I found out this song is being used for the show's titles, as the lyrics have some relation to the show concept. I can't wait to here more studios from him, and I'll surely post them here.

Album Review: Diana Vickers: Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree

Before starting reviewing the album I must confess that I love Diana, so I may not be very objective. But I'll try to do my best!

"Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree" is exactly the album I was expecting from Diana. I loved her during her X Factor run during Season 5 and her unique style was totally awesome. The debut was released on May 3, 2010 and it's first single, "Once", released on April 19, climbed quickly to #1.

Diana took here time recording this album and it totally paid off. Instead of recording it the sooner as possible, she worked on every single song and try to make the best out of them. Her voice is quircky and I love the album concept.

Recommendation: 3OH!3: My First Kiss (Featuring Ke$ha)

"My First Kiss" is the first single from 3OH!3 sophomore album, "Streets of Gold" which is stated for a June 29 release. The song was available on May 4, 2010 for digital download. With the guest appearence of Ke$ha, the song is a good collaboration. First of all, it is a catchy electronic song, with a great rythm. Although the lyrics are superficial, the song is fun. And I don't see why some people hate Ke$ha, she is great! Don't critisize me ;)

The Covers: Like A Prayer

One of Madonna's most popular songs, Like A Prayer, sold over five million copies when  it was released on February 29, 1989 and is now considered one of her best songs. The highly controversial music video at that time directed by Mary Lambert, where crosses were burned, went on to win the Viewer's Choice Award at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards. I don't see why all that fuss was about, but well. Apart from that, the song is incredibbly written and we should applaud the writers, the very one Madonna and Patrick Leonard.
