X Factor Ukraine 2012: Top 3 Perform: The Final + The winner is revealed

Hello and Happy New Year! The XF Ukraine Final is here. It's been a wonderful journey. We've seen a lot and we've heard a lot and of course we've judged a lot as well. Tonight the three remaining acts, Alexey, Aida and Eugeni, will fight for the crown and for the honour of being the first ever Ukrainian winner on MDS' blog header (and if they've never heard of it, well, it's their loss).
Who'll win it all? ... It's time to face the music!

X Factor Ukraine 2012: Top 4 Perform: The Semi-Final

As you know, last Friday the world was supposed to end. And as you also know, it didn't happen. I don't know if the acts and mentors believe on it, but I hope they weren't just waiting for it to happen but rehearsing, rehearsing and rehearsing. Each act will perform two song today, one being a romantic song and the other a dance song. Dance week is usually awful for some acts and surprisingly good for others. I can't imagine Aida in particular singing something uptempo, but let's not get ahead of ourselves yet ... It's time to face the music!

X Factor Ukraine 2012: Top 5 Perform

Last week early favourite Julia Plaksina left the show. The public was
shocked and tried to convince the producers to bring her back but failed,
obviously. Why bring her back if the public didn't vote for her in the first
place? So now, Sosedov is lonely and desperate. I wonder how harsh his
critiques will be tonight? Today each act will sing two songs, a
retro-song and a current song. Judges can't change anything anymore and
there won't be a song for survival, the public alone will vote one act off,
simple as that ... It's time to face the music!

Talent shows make something with our minds. I was getting home on the train a
couple of days ago when two street musicians entered. They started to
sing and I just couldn't stop judging them on how well they connected
with the song and made it their own. I didn't even know I had those phrases
ready in my head. But I guess we all do now. Let's use them on the next
portion of the show then! Today's theme confuses me a little, "Cover versions". Isn't
everything on shows like this a cover? ... It's time to face the music!

Some countries have already crowned the winner (I spot Samantha Jade's face up at the blog's header) but
we are only half way of choosing it. I wish we had the rankings like in the US
version to know who is number 1 right now. Is it
almost-as-good-as-a-professional Julia, stone-cold beauty Aida,
experienced Yakov, shy rocker Alexey, actor-singer Eugeni or charismatic
Dmytry? At least I know it's not dynamic trio D-version, but they still
are my own number one two weeks in a row. Will they be as good tonight
or is this their time to go? ... It's time to face the music!

X Factor Ukraine 2012: Top 8 Perform

The Сhosen, as the voice-over guy keeps calling them, will be performing songs made in Ukraine tonight. Not all of them are Ukrainian though, but it's just a minor accent issue. We'll get to hear something fresh and that's definitely a plus (I'm a huge fan of English music, obviously, but some songs have been covered so many times I'm sick of them). By the way, it's Memorial Day here in Ukraine so don't expect many happy songs. ... It's time to face the music!

Today's theme is not exactly a theme but a feature, a live orchestra.
That's something everybody love, the artists, the judges and the public. So prepare yourself for a magical night. And
by the way, singing with an orchestra is not an easy task for an act. It
does require a higher level of energy and focus and concentration to
sing with the orchestra (I quoted this part from a musician so it's the
truth. Haha). Are you excited? I certainly am! ... It's time to face the music!

Thousands of Ukrainians are saving sunflower seeds for Saturday's X Factor show and that totally suits
today's theme, "Songs from the movies". So in order not to waste those
precious snacks, the show better be good tonight! ... It's time to face the music!

Last week we saw the very first live tears of the season as the final 12
became 11. I can't even begin to imagine how awful it'd feel to go home first. Maybe it's like waking up in the morning in the middle of
the most beautiful dream ever. But we still have 11 acts fighting to
stay in the competition! The theme today is not Halloween related, its 90s hits ... It's time to face the music!

This weekend something important is happening in Ukraine. And no, I'm not talking about the elections for government. I'm talking about the XF first liveshow! For me the most exciting part is too see how the contestants have been polished. It's only been a week for us since we've learnt the names of our lucky twelve, but for them it was much longer. So what's happened in the meantime? Let's find out!
