X Factor Ukraine 2012: Top 4 Perform: The Semi-Final

As you know, last Friday the world was supposed to end. And as you also know, it didn't happen. I don't know if the acts and mentors believe on it, but I hope they weren't just waiting for it to happen but rehearsing, rehearsing and rehearsing. Each act will perform two song today, one being a romantic song and the other a dance song. Dance week is usually awful for some acts and surprisingly good for others. I can't imagine Aida in particular singing something uptempo, but let's not get ahead of ourselves yet ... It's time to face the music!

Dmytry Sysoev

Очи черные - 9/10 - Igor is sure Dmytry is too young for the songs Seryoga usually gives him. Well, we'd like to decide it ourselves. It's a classic Russian 19th century romance, I believe everyone has heard it at least once. So yes, it's a lot of pressure. On the other hand, the song was sung by so many, it's lost it's original vibe. Dmytry is passionate and very magnetic. I'm not a big fan of his falsetto, but it was very in place. Sosedov found the performance interesting but felt it lacked the right tempo. He says the performance ended unexpectedly - he's actually right, I don't believe the song should have ended when it did. Other than that, says Sosedov, it was hot and original, in a Dmytry's way. Irina also liked the performance.
Aida Nikolaychuck

It's in your eyes - 4/10 - The moment we've been waiting for - the dancing Aida. The dancing diva, as Igor called her. I like her dress (that's why my rating is so low - girl's jealousy. Kidding). She tries to dance but it only makes her look awkward. Also, dreadful English, as always (I'm not saying my accent is anything better than hers, but she's a singer and is supposed to have the ability to not have one. I guess). I ended up comparing Aida to Samantha Jade, that's who is the real dancing diva. Seryoga doesn't think Aida should sing disco hits and I think it's a common opinion. Sosedov says she's got a perfect ear (that's what I'm talking about when judging her pronunciation!). He thinks there were too much backing vocals though. Irina liked how Aida accomplished the given task.
Alexey Smirnov

Ты дарила мне розы - 6/10 - The performance features his vocal coach, Galina, as a judge. She actually outshines him. We've heard him sing like that many times before, nothing new or exciting. Sosedov wanted more from Alexey, he was hoping he would rip his clothes off or something like that (his sexual fantasies are vivid, as always). Irina liked it, but I guess she's decided to like everything today since she's lost her boys (heavy sigh) and is not really interested in the show's results anymore.

Voyage voyage - 9/10 - "Yet another dancing diva", I thought sarcastically when I heard who was next. Little did I know. He's actually great. His dancing moves are ridiculously magnetic. Like you are supposed to laugh about them but you actually like them. That pretty much sums up my general opinion on him, by the way. Eugeni is an artist says Sosedov (we've heard that about a million times, thank you). Irina gave him a standing ovation, so she obviously liked it. She asks him to go out dancing tonight, that's how much she's impressed.

Dmytry Sysoev

Беспризорник - 8/10 - When he sings something family-related I get very annoyed (yes, I'm a soulless automaton, I'm aware of that). But other than that, he's doing ok. More than that even, he's noticeable amongst the dancers and is confident and consistent. Igor reminds us of Dmytry's rendition of "Moves like Jagger" which was consistent and confident as well. And surprise-surprise, Irina liked Dmytry. Sosedov liked both the song choice and the performance. He only didn't like Dmytry's ever sad eyes.
Aida Nikolaychuck

Romance - 4/10 - While dance music don't suit her, romantic music does. Predictable solid performance and the second well-known romance. Everyone have sung that song at least once, even those who've got no voice at all. Irina still cries about it. Or was it because Aida messed up with the words? (My low rating is based on than fact) No, it wasn't, Irina was lost in the emotional atmosphere. Well, the coldness of atmosphere was very in-tune with Aida's personality. Sosedov of course didn't want to waste the opportunity to critique. His critique is so harsh Aida's eyes get wet (nice to know she's capable of crying).
Alexey Smirnov

I breeze - 6/10 - His vocal coach thanks his mom for raising such a gentleman (nice trick to get the girls to vote). Yet again - nothing new. He's still a nice talented guy and would likely make a career in the music industry. It's just that he's not interesting to watch anymore. Igor saw no magic but heard a lot of backing vocals. Sosedov, on the other hand, saw a true professional. Even though it was low for Alexey sometimes, Sosedov says, he did some tricks and masked all that. It was magical for him too.
Eugeni Litvinkivitch

Он был старше её - 5/10 - I'd have preferred the closing number being his first song. This one is more of a lullaby. And by the way, what does this white cloth symbolize? Is it a white flag or is he waving good-bye? Decorations are pretty awesome, the song is dull, period. Seryoga considers Eugeni a strong competition for his boys. Sosedov gives a long song-meaning related speech. As for Eugeni, he is (a good actor, definitely) a decent storyteller, Sosedov tells.

Results
As for predictions, I'm pretty sure Dmytry will be eliminated. Aida
and Eugeni have got their crazy dedicated fans and Alexey is the one
with the majority of the girls votes (I'm not judging, I am a fangirl
sometimes too).
Elimination:
Dmytry Sysoev
So Dmytry is leaving the competition. Being eliminated one step before the final must be frustrating for him. On the other hand it's quite an achievement. I'm sure we'll hear from him soon, as with D-version (I tried hard not to mention them, sorry I failed).
The grand final next week!
