As you know, last Friday the world was supposed to end. And as you also know, it didn't happen. I don't know if the acts and mentors believe on it, but I hope they weren't just waiting for it to happen but rehearsing, rehearsing and rehearsing. Each act will perform two song today, one being a romantic song and the other a dance song. Dance week is usually awful for some acts and surprisingly good for others. I can't imagine Aida in particular singing something uptempo, but let's not get ahead of ourselves yet ... It's time to face the music!

Last week early favourite Julia Plaksina left the show. The public was
shocked and tried to convince the producers to bring her back but failed,
obviously. Why bring her back if the public didn't vote for her in the first
place? So now, Sosedov is lonely and desperate. I wonder how harsh his
critiques will be tonight? Today each act will sing two songs, a
retro-song and a current song. Judges can't change anything anymore and
there won't be a song for survival, the public alone will vote one act off,
simple as that ... It's time to face the music!

"My new song is a very clear example of the part of me that will surprise my fans. I'm also really silly and I have a really dirty mind", the singer confesses. The song is definitely a major departure from darker tracks like "Coming Home", favouring a more poptastic sound. The stand out isn't the song itself though, but the raunchy lyric video, which is plagued with hilarious sexual references from beginning to end. This is what Skylar had to say about the song's meaning: I'm poking fun at the overly sexualized aspects of today's culture and music and everything". Yeah, right. Regarding her debut album, it's no longer called "Invinsible", nor is coming out this year. Now it's title is "Don't Look Down" and will be hitting the stores, presumably, on spring 2013, with Eminem as the executive producer. So Skylar fans, you'll just have to wait a little longer.

Carmen Smith: "They Don't Know Me" Music Video

Back in May, after making it to the live shows on the debut season of The Voice of Australia, we learnt that audition stand-out Carmen Smith had been disqualified from the competition, allegedly for having an unfair advantage over the fellow finalists by being featured on one of Guy Sebastian's (XF Au judge) videos. That didn't stop the soul lady though. Her debut EP, "They Don't Know Me" is already out. It's actually been out for a while, since August 24, and honestly, I forgot about posting this underrated gem when I first saw it. Either way, the EP is probably not what you were expecting from her. "They Don't Know Me" is a funky, uber stylish, uptempo soulful debut, proving that there’s more to Carmen than the soulful performances she gave us on The Voice. Her quirky debut didn't chart on the ARIA charts but that doesn't really matter as long as she keeps giving us more material like this and if she stays true true to herself, she's on the right path.

Talent shows make something with our minds. I was getting home on the train a
couple of days ago when two street musicians entered. They started to
sing and I just couldn't stop judging them on how well they connected
with the song and made it their own. I didn't even know I had those phrases
ready in my head. But I guess we all do now. Let's use them on the next
portion of the show then! Today's theme confuses me a little, "Cover versions". Isn't
everything on shows like this a cover? ... It's time to face the music!

Union J lost out on a place in the final last week after polling the least votes in an unsurprising result. So now we have an all solo male final, Christopher Maloney for the Overs and Jahmene Douglas and James Arthur for the Boys. Personally, I would like James to win but I have a feeling that it might just be Jahmene who clinches it and there's always the fear that Christopher could end up winning, hopefully not but you never know with this show. It's Time To Face The Music!

Remember Line? Of course you do! She was Ida's runner up on XF Denmark last season and soon after the show came to an end, her winner's single, the wonderful "Efter Dig", was released via Sony Denmark, doing impressively well on the singles charts. Now, over a year after her XF run, her highly anticipated post-XF single is seeing the light of day. "Os To", which was produced by The Providers, the same team behind most of Medina's material, was released on November 19, and it seems Line is staying put in the dance genre, which I'm extremely glad because this girl is Medina 2.0, something I've been saying since her time on the XF. This song is golden, even better than her winner's single indeed and her voice works fantastically with this. Give her some time and she'll be something big. ... Is this the type of song you were expecting? Do you think Line can be as big as Medina?

Despite only placing 4th on the XF Au's latest season, which was won by Samantha Jade, the once front runner was signed by Sony Australia and a debut single will be soon hitting the stores. The enchanting singer, who cites Lykke Li and Bon Iver as her influences, will be releasing "Set Me On Fire" on December 14, 2012 with her debut album scheduled for 2013. The song, written by Australian Idol S7 runner-up Hayley Warner and songwriter/producer Louis Schoorl, captures all the beauty of Bella's voice creating a very Birdy sounding tune. I bet the full version sounds even better, December 14 can't come soon enough for me ... What do you think of Bella's first effort? Hit or miss? Are there any other finalists you'd like new music from?

we are only half way of choosing it. I wish we had the rankings like in the US
version to know who is number 1 right now. Is it
almost-as-good-as-a-professional Julia, stone-cold beauty Aida,
experienced Yakov, shy rocker Alexey, actor-singer Eugeni or charismatic
Dmytry? At least I know it's not dynamic trio D-version, but they still
are my own number one two weeks in a row. Will they be as good tonight

We lost Rylan last week which was probably a bit of a loss entertainment wise for the show but let's be honest, on a talent basis he did sort of overstay his welcome. I quite enjoyed his performances but I'm glad that we have a final four with three acts who have at least a decent amount of talent, even Chris who is the weakest in my opinion can sing. As only three can make the final, which of the four will miss out? It's Time To Face The Music!

The Voice Australia Season 2: Ricky Martin Replacing Keith Urban

Since Keith Urban is stepping down as coach to join S12 of American Idol, there's a spot left on The Voice Australia's judging panel. Seal, Delta and Joel are all set to return for a second season. Today, November 29th, it has been announced that Puerto Rican pop singer and actor, Ricky Martin will be joining the series, in what sounds like a weird addition to the panel. I was hoping they went for Kylie, since she's arguably Australia's biggest star but she probably declined the offer. That means Delta is the only Australian judge, with Seal being British, Joel American and now Ricky, who's Puerto Rican. What do you think of the new addition? Are you excited for S2 now?

The public reached a new low last week by the best two contestants remaining (Ella and James) landing in the bottom two and when Ella was sent home, the public were furious with many people taking to Twitter to complain about the result. Sadly the reality is that if you don't vote, you can't complain. It also means we're left with five acts, realistically with only one (James) being capable of any sort of successful music career after the show. The series has messed up big time and it's going to suffer from a very lacklustre final as a result of this. With rumours of a big twist this weekend, it's time to face the music!

The Сhosen, as the voice-over guy keeps calling them, will be performing songs made in Ukraine tonight. Not all of them are Ukrainian though, but it's just a minor accent issue. We'll get to hear something fresh and that's definitely a plus (I'm a huge fan of English music, obviously, but some songs have been covered so many times I'm sick of them). By the way, it's Memorial Day here in Ukraine so don't expect many happy songs. ... It's time to face the music!

Samantha Jade was ultimately crowned the winner last week after finding herself in the B2 three times during the season beating Jason Owen and The Collective, who came in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Both Xtina and Blake lose a team member last week when Adriana Louise and Michaela Paige were eliminated after receiving the least amount of votes. Tonight, the top 10 artists take the stage once more in order to win you over. This week, the judges have also brought music experts to help them over. Xtina is joined by record executive Ron Fair, who signed her to her first record contract. Country producer Scott Hendricks will be coaching Blake's team and Idol alumni/Grammy winner/Smash S2 star Jennifer Hudson will help Cee Lo. No one helps Adam, he doesn't need it apparently. The stakes are higher than ever cause this week, either Blake or Xtina could be left without a team. But will that actually happen? ... This is The Voice!

I feel a bit ambivalent towards the show now, it just hasn't piqued my interest and even last week when finally one of the weaker acts went, I felt little care for any of the acts. James and Ella are probably the best two left but even they can't really save this series in my opinion, it's probably going to end up being the weakest series of the show to date. With tonight being Guilty Pleasures week, don't expect anything different, Christopher will sing a song older than the average age of an X Factor voter, James will do an amazing job with a quirky choice and Rylan's performance will be no different to any other week. It's Time To Face The Music!

I know I didn't write The Battles recaps but it's not because I
didn't want to but because I kept forgetting to do it. So instead of
simply quitting to recap the series, I'll just skip to the liveshows!
Tonight, each coach will give a total of 10 points to each contestant
and those points (out of 40), will then be added to the public's points.
We've got a colossal amount of finalists, 32!, so we better get
started! ... This is The Voice!

Two contestants were eliminated during last week's result show, struggling girl band Hey Mary and teen heartthrob and, to me, one of the front runners of the competition, Oscar Zia. The theme this week is Swedish songs so the contestants will be taking on Sweden's best. (Btw, sorry about the low quality pics, the site I use to fetch them didn't post them this week) Who'll miss on the Top 6? ... It's time to face the music!

Thousands auditioned but now only 12 remain with the elimination of David Correy, Sister C, Willie Jones and Diamond White during last week's result show. Tonight, for the very first time, the final 12 battle for your votes taking on Songs from the Movies. We'll have a big twist tonight as well, but we are all kinda expecting it, aren't we? ... X Factor Australia 2012: Top 4 Perform: Power and Passion

Only 4 remain after Shiane Hawke finally hit the bottom against The Collective and was sent packing by the judges. Tonight is the semi-final and each judges has one act each but in the end, only 3 will remain and a judge will miss getting to the final. The theme for today is Power and Passion, "one to get your heart pumping and one to pull your heart strings" according too Luke. The contestants will be singing two songs so the pressure is higher than ever. One misstep and your out ... It's time to face the music!
