I'm currently looking for some new writers in order to expand the blog given that I can't post the amount of things I'd like to. So if you are interested in writing about anything related to music (news, TV shows, album reviews, introducing artists) just drop me an email to musicisthedoor@gmail.com and we can discuss some of your ideas.

I'M LOOKING FOR A GERMAN TRANSLATOR, IF INTERESTED, EMAIL ME
After a shaky first season, the XF Germany came back last year with a highly successful run, crowning David Pfeffer as the winner. This year, the show returns bigger than ever and it'll feature 12 contestants during the liveshows for the first time. Sarah Connor is the only returning judge, and after last year's lackluster season, it's no surprise. This time, she'll be joined by Scooter frontman H.P. Baxxter, Guano Apes lead singer Sandra Nasic and rapper Moses Pelham, the three of them amping up the standards greatly. Will we find the next German star tonight? ... It's time to face the music!
Recap and videos after the JUMP ...
JJ Jobbagy (35) - He cried a lot backstage, why? No idea. He's a personal trainer and has a young kid. JJ's take on "One" felt forced to me though I consider he has a good voice. He needs to open his mouth more when he sings but there still were some great notes in there. I wonder if he would sound better on a German song cause I believe his issues happen cause he's thinking to much in the pronunciation and not on the performance. There were many bright spots yet so I guess he'll be a cool Over 35 if he can overcome his problems. - VIDEO
Enya Maria Jost (16) - Is she seriously signing "Peacock"? Sarah's face said it all, it was a very bizarre performance overall. It was uncomfortable to watch, she was overly sexy and provocative, not to mention the song was totally inappropriate. As Sarah reminded us, all it says is "cock". That aside, Enya's got a nice voice and I must admit the whole performance was pretty entertaining. The next time around, try not singing something so weird though. - VIDEO
Melissa Heiduk (22) - She works at her family's optic repairing glasses. Melissa's got a soulful deep voice and despite her song choice isn't particularly good, the judges all seem to enjoy it, with Moses tearing up a little and Sarah singing along. She definitely pours a lot of emotion into her performance and it got exponentially better, there's a lot of potential here. - VIDEO
Colin Besserer (25) - Some girls are shown backstage saying he should be on Germany's Next Top Model. He's hot and he knows it and is clearly using it for his advantage. He may have the beauty but his voice is atrocious. Good to know we can't have it all. Well, at least you are pretty Colin, I'd take the girls advice if I were you. - VIDEO
Andrew Steven Fischer (21) - Andrew's got a very soothing voice, ala German Ed Sheeran. I also appreciate the fact that he's singing in German cause it gives us a chance to see him sing in his own language. Andrew's definitely been the best we've seen so far. He's got an amazing tone and a gorgeous grit to his voice plus its all rather unique. I definitely want to see him again. - VIDEO
Rune (Groups and Bands) - Bands are now allowed on the show! I must say that's a big improvement. Bands are always better than groups, that's common knowledge. Patrick Schepanek (20), the lead singer, isn't particularly good, something you've to be if you are leading. He's being drowned away by the band and doesn't have enough vocal power to overcome it. They did a good arrangement of the song though, at least until they hit the chorus and turned it into a creepy guttural scream. Somehow, the judges dig that. Sarah looks shocked by it, then gives them an X either way. That was certainly something different but sorry, not for me. - VIDEO
Shuangzhou Liu (21) - He doesn't speak German, something weird considering he's auditioning for a German show. He's singing one of Sarah's songs. He watched one of her concerts in TV and apparently felt in love with her. Shuangzhou is singing "Just One Last Dance" and despite not completely horrendous as I expected, it's nothing stellar nor remarkable. Only Sarah gave him a yes, I guess she felt honoured, so I bet he went home very happy. - VIDEO
Lucas Mohr (16) - He's shown while they are introducing the following audition. Lucas was a contestant in DSDS S9 a few months ago, making it to the Top 36. Lucas's taking on "Too Close" and honestly, he's doing a fabulous job with it, although I'm not sure if I was enjoying it because I love that song. There were many issues but there's a lot of potential in his voice, maybe as part of a boyband. - VIDEO
Mrs. Greenbird (Groups and Bands) - Steffen and Sarah - Oh, now I know why they were so worried before. They are also singing "Too Close", which Sandra points out just happened. I don't know why they were worried, their version sounds totally different to Lucas's and to the original. Sarah's got a rather quirky voice and you all know I love quirky girls. She lacks confidence though and Steffen seems not to be adding much but backing vocals. They remind me to The Civil Wars to some extent though they aren't half as good as them. I still liked it, a lot. They could grow on me. - VIDEO
Fabienne Bender (16) - Fabienne is blind. She auditioned for "Das Supertalent" back in 2009 and made it to the finals, in which she placed 6th. Despite the big song, she did a wonderful job with it. I can't really point anything original about her voice though but the performance was well sang and it was also entertaining. Not even Florence gets this song right most of the times, so I give her props for that. Moses is tearing up, is that something he'll do regularly? - VIDEO
