With bootcamp just days ahead, it's time to give a close to the auditions for this year! We've had some exceptional talent in this past two weeks but the question is, will the show close on a high note or will it fail to deliver? ... It's time to face the music!

To be honest, the debut exceeded my expectations. The show lacked talent last year, so seeing so many talented individuals in it's debut gave me hopes for this year. The introduction of the bands really upped the standards of the groups category, could we've the first group winner this year? ... It's time to face the music!

We had our first returnee, two times eliminated Trent Bell last night. We also had a Pinoy teen idol, a struggling musician and Timomatic's sister. The bar is very high this year, there's no doubt about that. Will tonight's contestant keep the standards high? ... It's time to face the music!

After a shaky first season, the XF Germany came back last year with a highly successful run, crowning David Pfeffer as the winner. This year, the show returns bigger than ever and it'll feature 12 contestants during the liveshows for the first time. Sarah Connor is the only returning judge, and after last year's lackluster season, it's no surprise. This time, she'll be joined by Scooter frontman H.P. Baxxter, Guano Apes lead singer Sandra Nasic and rapper Moses Pelham, the three of them amping up the standards greatly. Will we find the next German star tonight? ... It's time to face the music!

There seems to be a lot of talent this year, with more spectacular contestants wowing us last week. The stand-out was grilband Good Question with their sassy take on "Wild Ones", rapping included. It remains to be seen if there's anymore talent among the groups, cause this one is the only one we've found so far. Will we find the next big group tonight? ... It's time to face the music!

To my shock, AKA Jam, one of my favourite acts on this show, left the competition after they ended in the bottom along Daddy's Home. I was truly expecting the judges to save the girls, or at least the public, but it wasn't meant to be. I hope the girls continue making music together, though it's unlikely. With that out of my system, the remaining nine contestants took on their idols last weekend and one more contestant left the competition and to my surprise, I was very pleased with the result.

The original edition of The Voice is coming back for it's third season after harp lady Iris Kroes was crowned the winner last December. This season, Angela Groothuizen is stepping down from her judge position with Trijntje Oosterhuis taking over her spot. Nick and Simon, Roel van Velzen and Marco Borsato are all returning, the latest for the second time and the previous for the third year. I'm gonna be covering the full show and not just the liveshows as I did the year before, well, at least I'm gonna try to. Who'll be our next champ? ...
This is The Voice!

It may only be the second episode of the series but already this year's X Factor is looking to be a good one with Ella and Curtis in particular impressing me last week. On this week's show, the panel are joined by guest judge Rita Ora in London and Mel B in Manchester before new judge Nicole Scherzinger who is going to be the permanent fourth judge from Bootcamp onwards joins Tulisa, Gary and Louis in Newcastle! It's Time To Face The Music!

Idol Norge finalist gone-to-soon Maria Mohn has finally unveiled her post Idol debut single. The 6th place finalist had a quite prolific career prior to the show, releasing her first album, Norwegian sang "Blimed Meg" in 2010. The new single, "Bedtime Story", was released on August 6 with it's music video debuting on August 10. The song is an alluring indie track in the mellow way Maria used to tackle her Idol covers. In the playful music video, which was directed by Linn Marie Christensen, Maria takes on the classic Snow White while looking like a Grecian goddess in an epic blue dress. "Bedtime Story" is a superb tune by one of Norway's most promising artists, I can hardly contain myself while waiting for her album.

We witnessed another fantastic episode last night in which the girls showed their supremacy over the rest of the contestants. We've not seen many groups thus far, could that mean they all sucked? Or are they saving the best for last? ... It's time to face the music!

It seems my favourite version of the XF will be looking a lot different when it comes back early next year. Both Cutfahter and Pernille are out as judges while Thomas Blachman, a veteran of the show and one of my favourite judges, is set to return. Also out is host Lise Rønne.

The first audition show proved that there's still a lot of talent down under. Bella, Samantha and Josh specially shone last night and tonight it's another bunch of contestants turn. Will we find another contender tonight or will they fail to impress? ... It's time to face the music!

Mark Mabasa saw the end of his XF dream last week when he found himself in the bottom with Take Off. Tonight, the contestants are singing rock music. The list adds another act this week but there's a major shocker tonight. One of my favourites is leaving. You'll never guess who went home ...

The XF champs are just a few months away from the release of their upcoming debut album and if it sounds as this cover, they've got a hit in their hands. The girls recently released a video of an acoustic cover of fun.'s "We Are Young", showing they don't need autotune when it comes to their singing. They didn't do any major reworking on the song but their voices sounded so heavenly on it that it made up for it. It's just a beautifuly done cover, so just sit back and enjoy.

After The Voice took the country by storm, it's time for the XF to try it's luck once more. The show had a highly successful series last year, managing to claim the #1 spot rating wise throughout it's run. Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Guy Sebastian, Mel B and Ronan Keating are all back in the panel and so is Luke Jacobs as the host. Honestly, we had quite a lackluster bunch of contestants this past year, with the exception of Three Wishez, Declan Sykes and winner Reece Mastin, so hopefully, we'll get a superior cast this year. So without further ado ... It's time to face the music!

I never expect the show to wear around and then all of a sudden, it jumps up on me and I know that it's only a matter of auditions shows, decisions and live shows until Christmas. However, don't be getting the tinsel and mince pies out yet as it's still August. I'm of course talking about The X Factor which is returning to ITV1 for a ninth series. Much of the show is staying the same since last year apart from the unfortunate departure of Kelly 'Girlalirl' Rowland who has been replaced by former Pussycat Doll and X Factor USA judge Nicole Scherzinger but as the decision was only confirmed partway through auditions, a number of guest judges joined returning panel members Louis, Gary and Tulisa to judge the talent on display. I'm not going to say anything rediculously cliched but...It's Time To Face The Music!

A week has passed and with it, another XF Philippines liveshow. Jerrianne Templo was eliminated last week, when finding herself in the B2 with highlight Joan Da. There're no major changes this week, just one contestant managed to shine a little more and thus earned a place in the list. The theme was songs with the word "life" or "buhay" in the title, an extremely lazy and boring theme. Who was your fave tonight?

Things continue to look good for Idol Sweden S8 third placer Moa Lignell. Soon after the show ended, Moa was signed with Universal Music and went to release her signature song "When I Held Ya", which continues to be a huge success in Sweden. Her newest singles, "Live Your Life" and "Whatever They Do", released May 30 and August 1 respectively, are pretty much in the same vein than her debut. Moa keeps proving she can deliver different things while sticking to her guns, melodic guitar pop. While we haven't heard much from winner Amanda Fondell, who was a much superior contestant and performer during Idol, Moa has released three singles to date. Could she possibly be the biggest thing to come out of Season 8?

Tulisa's Little Muffins have finally unveiled their debut music video! Well, it actually happened a weeks ago but you all know I've been a little busy. "Wings" will hit the stores on August 26 in an attempt to promote it when the XF Season 8 premieres. The song is full of sass and I bet it surprised some people who were expecting a typical girlband tune. Many XF winners have failed to find the right post-XF launching single, with the last two winners, Matt Cardle and Joe McElderry, being oversahdowed by their runner-ups. However, Little Mix seems to be the opposite case. With almost 3 million views, their funky debut single is on course for success, while runner-up Marcus Collins seems to be flopping already. The question now is if the album will be as good as "Wings" and if so, they'll be following One Direction footsteps very soon.

This is a show I never thought I'll be posting about but since all the shows I usually cover on the blog are currently off the air, I decided I'll do a little something on this, just cause I'm really bored. Haha. The X Factor Philippines premiered on June 23 and is judged by Gary Valenciano, Pilita Corrales, Martin Nievera and Charice, who you may remember from Glee's second season in which she palyed Sunshine Corazon. Since I'm really not interested in doing a full recap of the show, I'll just be posting some highlights from the liveshows.

Here's an unexpected news that has gone unnoticed until now. Charlotte ten Brink was one of the early favourites during The Voice of Holland's first season, wowing with her Ilse De Lange's unique "Miracle" cover during her audition. Despite the inital hype, Charlotte failed to make a lasting impression with the public and was eliminated during the Top 20 round. An year later, she's back for her second shot at fame. So far, she's released two singles, her debut, "Fool", on January 11, 2012 and "I Feel Free" on May 11. Although I'm missing some of the original tone she sported during the competition, I can't say I'm not digging this incredibly bluesy new sound. Think Joss Stone meets Eliza Doolittle, guess that's a quite accurate description of her sound. So what do you think? Are you digging the new Charlotte or would you rather have the old one back?

If one season of The Voice per year wasn't already enough, the people behind the dutch version of the show decided that the public wanted more and what a better way of giving them what they wanted than by launching a kids edition of the show? First mistake. Kids editions aren't good, cause let's face it, kids can hardly sing. Second mistake, the season was so short the audience couldn't relate with the kids. However, Fabiënne, who was always the frontrunner, developed a strong connection with the audience and ultimately was crowned the winner. But can we really consider her a kid? Fabiënne was 14 y/o when she won the show, her voice was already developed and she knew her musicality. Heck, she could have auditioned for the XF USA. During her run on the show, many have dubbed her the dutch Bird and that's probably the best comparisson one could make. They've got the same vocal type and their style's practically the same. Fabiënne's debut single, "Feelings", was released on July 20 and it's slowly climbing the charts. Lyrically, it reminds me of Birdy's "Without a Word" but it's got a bigger build up musically, making it a much more exciting and hunting piece. So what do you think? Will Fabiënne be able to break the child singer stigma? I think she already has.

We've not heard much of Iris since she was crowned the winner of the second season of The Voice of Holland. Thankfully, that's about to change. Her newest single, "Throw In Tomorrow" was released today (August 3) and it'll serve as the lead single of her aptly titled debut album "First", which will be released on the eve of the third season premiere, August 24. For those following her carrer, Iris post-Voice single "Just More", which was a cover of Wonderwall's hit, only managed to make it to #35. However, looking at how previous winner Ben Saunders carrer started, Iris's got nothing to worry about. "Throw In Tomorrow" is a major shift in direction from her previous material, and this time, it works for the better. The song is way more catchy and despite the faster, more pop-ish beat, Iris's distinguishable harp and gentel voice are still present. I'm starting to get excited for her, considering the premiere of the new season will be a huge platform to promote her album.

Despite only making it to the semi-final during The Voice of Holland's sophomore season, that didn't stop Wouter from signing a record deal with 8ballmusic, the same label that manages both the winner and the runner-up. His debut, "Alles", was released on July 6 and it's entirely sang in dutch. Admittedly I wasn't his fan during the run of the show, and I don't consider myself one now either, but this song is an ok first effort. It's got decent melody, which is to a certain extent kinda catchy. There's no hit potential though but if he keeps working on it, he may get there.

Since the new season is fast approaching, what a better way to prepare ourselves than by seeing what last season's bunch is up to? First up, runner up Chris Hordijk. As you may remember he's the younger brother of XF Season 2 winner Lisa Lois, who remains a big fave of mine. The first song is Chris's post-Voice debut single, "Won't You Stay", which was released on March 16. (A long time ago, right? Haha). "Jump From a Waterfall" is his second single, released on June 22. While "Won't You Stay" was a hit, managing to peak to #6, "Jump From a Waterfall" flopped, only making it to #51, probably because the song sounds like a demo Robbie Williams recorded for "Angel" and then scrapped. What do you guys think? Should Chris keep recording Robbie's old demos or go the John Mayer way as he did on his debut single? (Which is quite brilliant if you ask me).
