I know the show has started like three months ago, less than one if we start counting from the liveshows, but this is a show I enjoy so much that I decided to start recaping it. The truth is that I was looking for someone who'd like to write the recaps, but since I've not found anyone, here I am! I won't lie, I'll enjoy this! Judged by Roel van Velzen
Nick & Simon, Angela Groothuizen (who also judges on the XF) and Marco Borsato, the talent show was an instant hit in the Netherlands and the format was sold to many other countries making it an internatonal and highly successful franchise. Also a plus, the talent level is really high and even the contestants cut in the battles are really talented. This posts will be a little different from what I use to do, instead of ordering them as they performed, I'll divide the contestants in their teams and then rank them. Canadian born Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, is probably one of Canada's most sensational projects I've seen in a while. The thruth is that despite being the neighbour of the biggest music industry in the world, Canadian's aren't particularly known for their great music stars. Well, here's hoping that Grimes can change that! Despite releasing an album with Arbutus Records in 2010, it wasn't until this past year that Grimes started creating lots of buzz with her enigmatic and visually stunning music videos and her eerie ethereal vocals. There's no doubt that Grimes is a force to be reckoned with ...

Ever dreamt of a singing mime? Well, FOE (real name Hannah Louise Clark) may have just made your dream come true! This dark lady has been impressing with her twisted obscure tunes, much in the vibe of The Kills and Portishead. Currently signed to Mercury Records, FOE's latest single, titled "Deep Water Heartbreaker", which was released on August 19, 2011, is just a taste of what's next for her. Will this goth inspired singer be the next big thing? Probably not, but there's a fair chance she will.

Every year, the aussies bring us some exciting new acts. Last year it was the wonderful quirky Kimbra. This year we've got Fantine, a soul driven songstress in the vibe of Rox but with a much more catchy electro sound and a really raw organic tone. Born in Moscow to a Russian father and a Dominican mother, Fantine can definitely appeal to any kind of cultures given that she comes from such a diverse background and many influences are seen in her sound. Her first single "Rubberoom" was released on December 6, 2010 while the second tune, "Eleven", came out this past May 11 and there's also an EP coming soong. Fantine has a huge talent but will the public accept her?

Cairns, Queensland, born Emma Louise is yet another YouTube singer trying to catch her big break in the music industry. Well, it looks like 2012 is her year! When Emma posted her "Jungle" music video, probably one of her best songs, she immediately became the centre of crtics attention and the video already has 200 thousand views, something admirable for an unknown artist, with almost no buzz. The quiky track certainly created lots of it, cause her debut EP, "Full Hearts and Empty Rooms" topped the ARIA Charts, which is always a good indication for a new artist. Clearly Emma has already found her break and with a voice like hers, it was about time! Could Emma be the big star Australia's been waiting for?

Her debut single "Heaven" was an instant hit (climbing to #2) and her collaboration with Professor Green, "Read All About It" was yet another chart-topping tune for this Scottish songstress. Adele Emeli Sandé is definitely a one to watch, and with a name like that, success is written all over her face. With a mesmerising powerful voice and extremely emotive lyrics, Emeli has one of the most exciting and addictive sounds out there. Signed to Virgin Records the singer's first effort, "Our Version of Events", is set to be released on February 6, 2012, which seems to be the year Emeli will become the next star of the UK. Having recently won the Critic's Choice Award, which has been won by Adele, Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding and Jessie J, there's no doubt we can expect to hear a whole lotta more from her ...

London based band, fronted by Norwegian Peter Liddle, Dry The River, which includes Matt Taylor (guitar), Scott Miller (bass), Will Harvey (violin), and Jon Warren (drums) is one of 2012's biggest hopes. Being named as one of the BBC Sound of 2012 Top 15, this quintet will make most people love folk music or love it
even more with their attractive arrangements and of course, Liddle's amazing vocals. At first listen you might guess right away that they are a folk band, but Dry The River are more than just that. Their debut album, "Shallow Bed" is out March 2012, with their 4-track EP titled Weights & Measures already out. With a quick look at their schedule for 2012, which includes a huge tour, it's obvious we can expect a bright future for Dry The River ...

A brazilian based in Germany, is hard to find. Dillon (born Dominique Dillon de Byington) is exactly that, combining all of Brazil's sass with Germany's experimental electro vibe and creating a highly addictive quirky sound! At first glance, Dillon reminds of Sunday Girl (our 4th place on last year's poll) or even to the amazing Joanna Newson due to her squeaky imperfect vocals but that's exactly what I like, a unique, captivating and intriguing artist. The quality of her material avoids her from becoming just an interesting voice, as heard in her debut album "This Silence Kills", which was released on November 11 via the always interesting BPitch Control and thankfully, Dillon is up to the standards of the label with songs such as "Tip Tapping", "Thirteen Thirtyfive" and "You Are My Winter", all different from each other but at the same time showing a really distinctive sound. There's no doubt that Dillon has a lot of talent, the question now is if the public is behind her ...

North Carolina sixtet made up of siblings Brittany, Eric and Ian Hölljes and friends Elizabeth Hopkins, Mike McKee and Grant Emerson, is the definition of americana music. Hailing from a quiet country town, this band mixes all aspects of americana (blues, soul, gospel, country and rock) so gracefully that it seems music is first nature to them. The rich powerful vocals of their lead singer is supported by the fantastic harmonies of the other members creating one of the strongest and most exciting sounds I've seen in a while. Their debut self titled EP, which was released on May 19, features lead vocals from most of their members and while it doesn't allow the band to have a distinctive sound, it definitely shows that they are all incredible singers. Despite being tipped as one of the most promising stars of 2011 by the BBC Sound of poll, Daley is still yet to release an album, so it's a safe bet to assume his debut will hit stores in early 2012 and he'll be one of the UK biggest new stars. This premature inclusion by the BBC wasn't necessary a mistake given that all signs were indicating that he was set to become a star this year after he was featured on Gorillaz track "Doncamatic", a series of excellent demos and being signed to A&M Records. Well, he'll be this year's star now! Daley has a wonderfully distinctive voice. He's got a huge neo-soul sound but the interesting part is his femenine soft and incrediblly smooth tone which reminds of the voice of an angel even if that sounds like a huge cliche. Last year we'd James Blake, this year we've Charlene Soraia. The fact is that Charlene's sound is so reminiscent to Blake's that you
could easily mistake both of them. Let's just say that they are the
perfect duet partners! This London based musician first came into the spotlight with her cover of The Calling's "Wherever You Will Go", which was used in an advert for Twinings in the UK, peaking to #3 in the singles charts. Her debut album with Peacefrog Records, "Moonchild", followed soon on November 21, charting at a respectable #83. The album's acoustic feeling mixes with the eerie and heavenly vocals of Soraia, creating a melancholic, yet captivating atmosphere. And while some may found her squeals really unnerving, I actually love the way she includes them in her songs, such as in the beautiful "Daffodils" and the obscure yet haunting "When We Were Five". While her lyrics may be a little disturbing at times, there's no doubt that her first effort has catched my attention enough to keep me interested for what's to come. Bluey has been recently touring with Justin Bieber and has already released two singles, "Showgirl" and "Coming Back", both reciving critical acclaim and showing what type of artist he is. The song soon started appearing in many international charts and Jasmine became an internet sensation within days. Signed to Warner Records, Birdy, the stage name she chose, released her eponymous album on November 7, 2011, a compilation of heartfelt stripped-back covers which sound like her own, given to the lack of exposure of the songs she chose.
