Last week, the Top 5 reinvented Aussie anthems but unfortunately, we said goodbye to the last of Foo's girls as Jiordan Tolli was sent home after finding herself in the B2 along THIRD D3GREE. The Top 4 will be taking on two songs each, with passion and power. Plus Tina Arena will be on hand to mentor the contestants. Who won't be making it to the finals? ... It's time to face the music!

Round 1

THIRD D3GREE

"Give Me Everything" - 7/10 -  Being in the B2 was devastating for them. Jordan feels it was his fault they ended there. Jacinta feels Tina is the perfect mentor since she sings with so much passion. Tina wants Jordan to come out. He's nervous about the song cause he was pitchy during rehearsals. While he's not pitchy here, I don't really dig this performance, mainly because I dislike this song so much. Kelebek nailed it with her rap though and the tune is in line with their style. It was entertaining at least. "Guys, you are back to were you should be. That was a great performance, really spot on. Great to see you doing some dancing as well Jordan, you were shining, you weren't letting the girls take you off that stage. Well done" (Dannii)

"Saving All My Love for You" - 8/10 - She was upset after last week's judge's reaction. She felt like she let Dannii down. Her mentor is confident Tina will get the very best of her. Tina tells her it's been such a joy watching her. Tina suggests her to sing the song to her husband. Despite this being such a dated song, it didn't feel like one in Dami's hands. Her voice is sensational, technically, she hit every single note. It's a way more relaxed delivery from what we're used to, very peaceful. Lovely performance, though the judges have a point, it was kinda safe. "Very soft, very beautiful, very safe. Very safe, I liked it but I felt like you could've give a little more passion. It was good, it was smooth. I just felt you were singing it a little soft" (Foo)

"I Won't Give Up" - 4/10 - He was super nervous last week, maybe that's why he sounded so awful. He's got his guitar back. Foo says he cried during Jai's first audition and after losing all his girls he needs to cry again. It starts pretty well, his voice is made for this type of songs and giving him his guitar was a great move. Ronan set it up to recreate Jai's first audition, unfortunately, Jai forgot his lyrics halfway through the song and it all went downhill. He started to throw random lines at us and his vocal technique took a nose dive. Jai says he got lost in the song and sometimes that's what happens. BS. "You must be disappointed. When you first started that I was thinking, 'well, you've found yourself a place in the grand final', now I'm scared. Good on you for picking it back up and keep on going" (Nat)


Taylor Henderson

"Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" - 7,5/10 - Ronan was basically singing the song himself during rehearsals since Taylor is a disaster. Tina believes it's a confidence thing that he needs to work on. I don't feel Ronan made the right choice here. If he knew how insecure Taylor was about this song why not just change it? The performance is ok but not as stunning as it could've been. He's insecure and it shows, not all the time, but still. He could've done much better. "Good performance, some parts of it were excellent. I just was worried you were singing out of being confident and then not confident, I felt like I could see it written in your face and it just made me feel a bit nervous" (Dannii)



Round 2

Jai Waetford

"Dynamite" - 5/10 - Ronan feels this is the right upbeat song for Jai. He doesn't want the song to be bigger than Jai. That's exactly what happens though. Jai isn't made for this uptempo songs, he can barely sing the slow tunes. Decent vocals but completely karaoke, the problem is his voice is weak and the music drowns it. He worked the stage well enough though but this is as far as he should get. The judges inexplicably give him a standing ovation. "I hope you see the love in this room for you. It has been an absolute dream to mentor you, you're an absolute star" (Ronan)



THIRD D3GREE

"Pound the Alarm" - 9/10 - Kelebek doesn't know if she can compare to her since Nicki is a really intense rapper. She finds the rap really hard. So Nat basically picked this song for Kelebek. I'm not complaining since she nailed her part. That was some awesome rapping, probably her best. Jordan and Jacinta also shone in their own way, Jordan with his dancing and Jacinta with her awesome vocals. Great dynamic performance, one of their best. They get a standing ovation. "Again, what a pleasure watching you guys come to life. There's nothing that I can say but 'wooo'" (Nat)

"Girls Just Want To Have Fun"  - 9,5/10 - Taylor is shocked by this choice. "Clearly we have to change something about this" he tells his mentor. "Well, I'll start by changing your attitude" Ronan answers. Ouch. Pretty cool arrangement. It was made sound more country, which suited Taylor's style perfectly. His voice sounded awesome here and he looked a lot more confident than during his first performance. This is actually a genius arrangement, whoever came up with it deserves some props. Standing ovation. "You are such a talent. It drives me crazy sometimes, you've got all this ability and talent and you just won't let go but when you let go like that you show Australia that you can be a star" (Ronan)



Dami Im

"Wrecking Ball"  - 8,5/10 - Dami looks very unhappy with this song. That's because she had nudity in her head. At first she didn't want to do it but when she heard the lyrics she changed her mind. Foo doesn't want twerking from her. The song isn't bad and Dami does a fantastic work with it vocally. I liked how she sounded at the beginning, it was quite different. Great showcase for her pipes. I still don't know who she'll be as an artist, is she just gonna give us cover albums? That said, she's shoe-in for the finale.  Standing ovation. Everyone gets one today. "If that was our last go at the grand final, I'm so proud of you. It's so far out of your comfort zone. I'm so proud of you, great job" (Dannii)

So apparently there's a B2 tonight. I don't get the point of it. Last week should've been the last time the contestants had to sing for their lives. Whatever, another desperate attempt in order to get the chosen three in the finale.

Bottom 2:

THIRD D3GREE 

Taylor Henderson - "Stand By Me" - Ronan said it best. How can you be #1 in iTunes and be in the B2? The mediocre Jai made it through because of the judges. Hadn't they hyped the little kid so much, he may have gone home. Good performance, Taylor is a great singer and his tone is wonderful. He deserved to go through just based on "Girls Just Want To Have Fun". I expect he'll make it.


THIRD D3GREE  - "Crazy in Love" - I really enjoy this trio but it was obvious they'll land in the B2. They were never getting enough votes to avoid it. Entertaining performance, they definitely gave it their all but the judges have probably already made their minds.



This week Luke wants to know who the judges are sending through.

"THIRD D3GREE, you are like magnets repelling and sometimes is that madness in that friction that makes it work. Similarly, Taylor and Ronan. There is something in there and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. The act I'm putting through is THIRD D3GREE" (Dannii)
"Both acts are champions. You guys came out here and just fought and gave some of the best performing that we've seen the whole show. Taylor, from the start of the show, you started out kinda slow. Every show, you got better and better and you overcame your personal issues of believing in yourself. THIRD D3GREE, when you are feeling down and you wanna get some energy, you go to THIRD D3GREE. You guys got so much energy and you are able to package it up and entertain the world. I gotta go with my crazy gut. The act I'm putting through is Taylor" (Foo)



Eliminated (via deadlock):

THIRD D3GREE

 Obvious result. The B2 sing off was unnecessary, they could have went with the public's vote from the start. Jai could've at least faked her happiness a little bit. He couldn't have looked more excited when THIRD D3GREE was eliminated. The judges made a great job by putting this act together, they work so well together. They've been one of the most entertaining acts this series and deserved a place in the finale over Jai, obviously. The kid has no business being here. Just watch Ronan's ego grow even bigger now. "No matter what happens, THIRD D3GREE are going places" Nat predicted. I wish that's true.
