Formed in 2009 in Melbourne, this synth-pop sextet is probably one of Australia's most interesting new projects. With the fantastic vocals of Lou James and Phoebe Baker, the band's been gathering a strong following in their native Australia with their hypnotic approach of music and thankfully, they seem to be expanding their fan base. One of the reasons to that has to be their ever growing creativity when making muisc videos for their songs. Their videos for singles "Villages" and "Hands" are a clear example of this, both hugely inventive and attention-grabbing. With their debut album expected for early next year, expect to hear again from them very soon…

This is a little old by now but it's equally amazing. Gabrielle is now back with her new single, "Bordet", a more dance driven track but as addictive as her #1 single "Ring Meg", which made her one of Norway's biggest newcomers. Released on October 21, the Norwegian XF contestant gives us a danceable yet highly listenable song and while it's not as amazing as her first tune, if this is the quality of material she's including in her album, this girl is due to be Norway's next poppet.

It was ROCK NIGHT on The X Factor USA, and it was as flaccid as can be. A mere few acts shined tonight, but nary one inspired you to give a damn afterwards. The song choices were sketchy, agendas were running rampant, and some gimmicks are beginning to wear thin. I...have nothing else to add above here, so just look at my grades and stuff, 'cause otherwise, who cares?

After 10 weeks of competition, 400 hours of rehearsals, 142 performances and millions of votes, it all comes down to this. Last week, we lost the lackluster trio Three Wishez to public vote in what was a shocking elimination to some. This week, the remaining three finalists sing for Australia's votes one last time. Who will win it all? ... It's time to face the music!

Drama queen Kitty Brucknell was finally eliminated last week and now the top 6 is villanless. Kitty proved to be one of the most entertaining acts of the series but she had never warmed enough to the public. But a 7th place is really respectable, a place which past villan Katie Waissel achived last year. Now, the remaining 6 will take on songs from the movies in one of the most repetitive themes ever! Who'll be a blockbuster? Who'll be a flop? ... It's time to face the music!

Well, it was MOVIE NIGHT here on Week 3 of the American version of Simon's televised paycheck. The song selections were basically "any song I want my act to sing on whatever soundtrack I could find". Very few actually chose songs that were integral to the plot of the films themselves...except for the best mentor/judge, L.A. Reid. One was an Oscar winner; another was a Grammy winner; and the other was a nominee. Very few others had anything to do with their respective cinematic attachments. In some instances, rather awful flicks were chosen to represent on their behalf. Major facepalms. Worse yet, the average grades of performances tonight have become the equivalent of a box office flop.

This is without doubt, one of the best duos that has ever come from American Idol. You all know by now that Haley is my favourite contestant ever and Casey is probably the other fave I've. Their incredible chemistry was first noticed when the pair performed the fantastic "Moanin". Now, Haley and Casey are teaming once more to take on another jazz standard, the holiday classic, "Baby It's Cold Outside", which will be available for download on Nov 21. While it's not as epic as "Moanin", their smooth jazzy sound works perfectly with it and this is possibly the cutest duo ever, making the music video really adorable!

Signed to The Knife's Rabid Records, Jenny Wilson is one of Sweden's most unique artists of this past years. With an organic and simple, yet extremely weird, style, Jenny's unique voice wows in every single one of her three records, "Love and Youth", "Hardships!" and her latest release "Blazing", in which her soulish sound fully shines. "Like a Fading Rainbow" is definitely one of her best tunes, one that oddly makes me think of country, just like many songs of her albums, even though, sound wise, it's far away from it. Maybe it's the weird rifle in "Hardships!"'s cover or maybe I'm just crazy, but one thing is certain, she's got an undeniable talent that shouldn't be ignored, so make sure to take a look at her wonderful videos!

This's been a fantastic week! After the dreadful Johnny Robinson and ill fated manufactured boyband The Risk were eliminated, Frankie Cocozza, the worst and most disgusting act that has ever touch this stage, was kicked out of the show after breaking a "golden rule", drug (cocaine) use. So now, with one place available, the producers have decided to give one of the contestants the chance to return. Since 2 Shoes, Amelia Lily, James Michael and Jonjo Kerr have never faced the public vote, people will now be able to bring one of them back to replace Frankie, in the most unfair twist yet. No, he's definitely not The Tallest Man on Earth, he's just a below average sized folk musician who picked this ridiculous moniker as his stage name. Why? Well, I haven't asked him but you tell me if you know. The truth is that
Kristian Matsson has been earning lots of critical acclaim outside and inside his native Sweden, primarly in the USA and the UK, with critics comparing him to the great Bob Dylan. Their voices aren't that similar, they are actually not similar at all, given that Kristian's voice is much thinner than Bob's, up to the point it almost verges on the annoying. Thankfully, it's not, and combined with his songwriting skills, we get a brilliant artist. His latest album, "The Wild Hunt", was realeased on April 13, 2010 and it went to chart at #180 on the UK charts, something admirable for a swedish musician without many promotion and well deserved for such a fantastic and hearfelt album which definitely should have charted higher, and I'm certain his next attempts will ...

This is already the 4th week, so 3 acts have already been eliminated. Judged by Ildikó Keresztes, Feró Nagy, Miklós Malek, and Péter Geszti and hosted by Nóra Ördög, the first season was highly successful and many stars have come from it, including the great Kati Wolf from Eurovision success. Sisters Johanna and Klara, from the fabulous band, First Aid Kid, are the epitome of Swedish folk music. With their woody, washed-out quirky voices, this duo plays with one's imagination in such a magical way it makes it's listeners travel to dreamy celtic inspired scenarios. Signed to Wichita Recordings/Jagadamba Records, their first album, "The Big Black & The Blue", was released on January 25, 2010 to great critical acclaim, with new album "The Lion's Roar" set for release on early 2012, and I couldn't be more excited! Both sisters have beautiful voices and they are so enchanting, it's no surprise they are such a hit in their native Sweden. Here's hoping they became a worldwide hit!

Hey everyone! My name is James, known by the online pseudonym of ePastorJames. (Long story, got ordained online just because I could, married my friend to his left hand, crazy times.) This is my first time blogging for "Music Is the Door to Our Soul", but I'm excited to be a part of the blogging team and hope you'll welcome me to this community. I aim to be delightfully snarky and scathingly endearing. Let's see how that goes.
So tonight was the first live voting show of the brand new season/series. And apparently, there didn't seem to be a particular theme anywhere in sight! It was a particularly dreary snoozefest of a show, without any 'wow' moments to lavish praise upon. The mentors, however, did it anyway.
The Top 12 each sang for your votes, but two of these acts will be forced to face-off against one another in the Bottom 2 on the results show. The judges will then vote on which act to send home, and because they savor "buzz", you can expect controversy and drama galore! But for now, let us begin.
