Both groups were mediocre, so it's not a loss of any kind. Tonight, the remaining 10 contestants will sing the biggest radio classics and one more will leave the competition. Who's a hit? The Top 40 have been whittled down in the past 5 weeks and now we only have 10 finalists! This is definitely one of the strongest top 10 I've seen in a while. All of them are extremely talented and can nail a song, plus there's a wide variety of genres represented. I'm expecting this to be a fabulous season!

She's one of the best things 2011 has left us and the truth is that now she's one of my favourite artists. This belgium girl first got noticed when she duetted with Cee Lo Green on his latest album and people got to know, and love, her unique soulish voice. Now, her single "Crazy Vibes", which was released on February 10 and is one of her best songs, is getting it's music video! The song is great by itself and there really wasn't any need of a video but I don't complaint! It's a really nice touch to this wonderful piece. Plus we all know Selah looks great. Haha.

Emil Elton was the third finalist, and wildcard, to leave the competition. His dance moves proved to be too much for the public and that's the main reason he was ultimately eliminated. Things are not looking good for the sole remaining wildcard Amada Persson, if things continue like this, she may be the next one gone but again, we all knew she'll be the last wildcard standing, so I hope she's not cut anytime soon. It's Big Band tonight for the remaining 8 hopefuls and I bet we'll have some showstoppers! Who will wow us tonight? Who will dissapoint? ...

The Top 8 performed last week and we said goodbye to Young Men Society after seeing them go into deadlock against Declan Sykes in what was a shocking bottom two. A lot of people like these guys but I thought most of their performances were boring and cheesy. I'm glad Declan got a second chance, he showed major improvement in "Forever Young" and deserved to stay. The theme is "Australian Hits", who will be an Australian hit tonight? ... It's time to face the music!

Last week ill fated Nu Vibe was eliminated from the competition after landing in the perfect Bottom 2 with Frankie Cocozza. The guys were unimpressing and not so great singers, so they are definitely not a loss. The remaining 11 contestants will sing rock songs tonight in the hopes of winning your vote. Who will be the star tonight? Who'll be a wannabe? ... It's time to face the music!

Last week we said goodbye to Audio Vixen, who were in the bottom two alongside Johnny Ruffo. While Audio Vixen's vocal performances were amazing, their stage presence was lacking and a few odd song choices probably didn't help them either. I guess it's the Pia Toscano effect. Tonight, the remaining acts will perform number-one hit songs in hopes of winning another week in the competition. Who will impress? ... It's time to face the music!

Probably the most unlikely start to be ever born of Idol Sweden, Melanie wasn't even selected as one of the semi-finalists by the judges citing that she didn't have the right look to be a superstar and with her Idol stardom dreams crushed, she swore to shut the judges mouths and attempt to shot to fame. I've to agree with the judges though, she's not the typical looking popstar but the girl's got a sensational voice, well, at least for the disco route she's taking. Will Melanie be able to prove them wrong? Only time will tell ...

As this was the series that won the poll, the weekly posts of the XF Germany start right now! I've not been following this series, so this is the first performance I'll watch from the contestants, let's see who can impress me. However, I did watch the show last year, some performanes at least and I must say I was somehow impressed with the talent. The winner, Edita, is a great singer and I really like the boys. Hope this year is much better! Two acts will be heading home tonight, who will fail to progress? ... It's time to face the music!

Matthew Raymond-Barker: "Trash (Tout le Monde Jump sur le Bar)" Out Now

Matthew won the French XF and he earned a Sony deal, however, his first single, "Vivre ou survivre", released after he was crowned the champion, was a major flop, only managing to get a #94 place in the charts in France and a #23 in Belgium. After the great dissapointment, Matthew is releasing his newest single, "Trash (Tout le Monde Jump sur le Bar)" from his upcoming album to be released in November. The track, an electropop upbeat tune sang in french, for some odd reason, cause remember he's british, could mean Matthew's second flop. The track isn't particularly good, nor his vocals or the track itself stand out and I can't get to like the old fashioned tune. Poor Matt, he's on his way of being dropped if he doesn't step up his game for the album and if the latter doesn't manage to sell well ...

We finally have our Top 32 in place. After this stage, we will be left with 16 acts that will move on to the live shows... Or so we are lead to believe. We shall see if the XF producers have any twists up their sleeves soon but for now, let's see how the Judges Houses went. Who will make it to the live shows? Who will fall just short? Will your favorite make it? And who will win a recording contract with Epic Records worth 5 million dollars? ... It's time to face the music!

The auditions are over and now it's time for our Top 40 semi finalists to take the stage and prove what they are made of. In the next five weeks, the Top 40 will be devided in 5 semis of 8 contestants each where only two will advance to the Top 10. It's definitely a very difficult challenge. Who will be the lucky pair tonight?

Last week we saw 4 acts leave in a brutal shocking twist. Amelia Lily, 2 Shoes, James Michael and Jonjo Kerr all were eliminated from the competition when their respective mentors didn't pick them to continue in the competition. Tonight the Top 12 will sing songs from a "Love and heartbreak" theme. Who will be heartbroken on Sunday night? ... It's time to face the music!

Swedish Week: Introducing: El Perro Del Mar

With a name like this, it isn't hard getting interested in her. Apparently, the name El Perro del Mar
came to Sarah Assbring during a vacation in Spain; she was alone,
depressed, and out of sorts when a dog came up to her while she
sat on the beach, and the dog's efforts to bond with her inspired her to
express her feelings through songwriting. Imagine what we would've missed if the dog didn't came to her! Soft wistful beats are her signature sound with sweet evoking pure vocals, her music can easily be labeled as electropop, with a more indie driven sound. Will she keep the same route for her 5th album, "Pale Fire", out in 2012? I hope so, cause it's a great one ...

Rebecca Ferguson: "Nothing's Real But Love" First Listen

Shy Rebecca Ferguson wowed everyone with her jazzy performances on last year's XF, ultimately earning her a recording contract with Syco and Epic Records, like fellow runner ups JLS and Olly Murs. Now, she's back with her first single, "Nothing's Real But Love", stated for release on November 27, with her debut album following on December 5. Written by Ferguson herself and her main songwriting partner Eg White (Adele, Duffy, James Morrison, Diana Vickers), the song gives us exactly what we where expecting from her, an incredible jazzy tune with her deep unique vocals. What's not to love about that?! If this song is an indication of what's next, it's looking good for her.

Despite the elimination was a little unfair, Jacqui hasn't been delivering strong performances since her first final showdown and the elimination was just a matter of time for her. Tonight the remaining contestants will sing 90s hits in order to win another week in the competition. Who will shine? Who will disappoint? ... It's time to face the music!

Introducing: Ed Sheeran

Having totally ruined my plans of including him in the MDS Sound of 2012 when he released his debut album, +, and topped the british charts, I think it was about time I introduced the coolest ginger alive, Ed Sheeran, to you, if there's something at all to introduce. The first glimpse of his talent came in June when his signature song, "The A Team", was released much to critical acclaim and chart success, earning Ed his first #3 song. You may think Ed success was a huge surprise, right? Well, he has been around since 2005, with his first release The Orange Room EP and several EPs following in 2009 and 2010 which started to chart at the bottom of the top 200. Now signed to Asylum and Atlantic Records, Ed is finally getting the recognition he deserves and is now one of the UK's finest. With his totally unique style, his music sails through folk, hip hop and even some reggae, all making for a wonderful listening experience full of emotion. Just take for example the wonderful raping piece "You Need Me, I Don't Need You" or the hearfelt "Give Me Love" and you'll love him for life, like I certainly do now.

As you all know by now, I personally found the auditions to be long and painful. But out of it, we did get some really good contestants with loads of potential. We now enter Bootcamp, where 162 acts will be whittled down to 32 that advance to the Judges Houses. Will your favorite contestant make the cut or crumble to the pressure?
